Love this time of year let’s keep the discussion going. I’m using a Franchi affinity with 3.5 inch federal tungsten. But the original blend meant to run through a normal full choke.

Mossberg 835. Burris fast fire III. Shooting Longbeard XR 3.5" 5's or 6's. Carlson choke.
Nice looking setup. Did you have the receiver drilled and tapped for a pic rail to mount the Burris Fast Fire III? How durable has that FF III been for you?

I'll have to dig up some exact info on how I went about it.but the gun when purchased was capable of adding a rail. i believe it was a marlin 336 mount, very low profile mount.
The Burris FFIII has been absolutely bullet proof. I did a sight in when I mounted the sight 5 or 6 years ago and I have never had to touch it since. Check it every spring before season. Love the set up

Any shotgun will work if you know how it patterns and your effective range (not the gun's, yours). Also, sounds crazy, but my .410 patterns TSS loads better with a modified choke, not sure why, but it certainly does. I use an extra full for lead in my 12 gauge though.

Thanks. I'm undecided on whether to go with the Burris FFIII or the Vortex Venom 3 MOA.

I haven’t shot at a turkey yet…. But Iv been close. Was using a benelli nova with carlsons long beard xr choke but I upgraded in the fall to a franchi affinity 3 26”. LOVE this shotgun, put a scalarworks sync/01 mount with a rmr on it yesterday and a patternmaster code black turkey will be shooting apex or federal #9 tssDAB5B216-0C5B-414D-B20A-C5E0781CC3B2.jpeg

I shot my first turkey this last year and I had more fun than I thought I would. I’m kind of in the market to buy a turkey gun. What is everybody shooting? Any suggestions? Really don’t wanna spend more than $600.

A lot of good choices out there, my only advice is, if you definitely plan on shooting TSS loads for turkey, get a smaller gauge like a 20. Smaller TSS loads are cheaper than larger 12 and 10 loads but still expensive, and not needed with a 12. If you want to shoot a good lead load, I'd get a 12 gauge.

Beretta A400 xplor 28g Carlsons extra full turkey. (.505 constriction)
1oz #9 tss handloaded since its not commercially available. I tried the larger 1.5oz loads but I feel like it beats the gun up too much and the 1oz load has full coverage without voids on a turkey target at 40 yards. I will experiment with 1.25oz loads next year just to see how the gun likes it
