I'm with JWP big win for the working class Americans if you want to complain and wine please go to CNN or msnbc and join the crybabies

Seriously, what the **** is wrong with you? No one is complaining or whining.... you guys are sensitive as shit...
Writing your newly elected officials about issues that matter to you is what your supposed to do... that's the point of the entire thing.

It says right in that interview he doesn't care if it's state owned or fed owned, it just need to be public. That's a red flag guy.... the Feds don't get to tell the states what to do with their land(in most circumstances). So if the states want to sell it they will.

Am I the only one that finds it funny that the one calling us liberals claims to live in a van?

If you must know where I stand politically I bleed red to the bone. I grew up in Madison County Idaho, look up the voting history there. I am still smart enough to recognize that just because some guy has an R by his name doesn't mean he is always going to look out to my best interests.

A bit off the subject, but I think it's kind of funny the people that I came across, prior to the election, that said "if Trump is elected president, I'm heading to Canada". Of course, all the while, they fully expected Hillary to win. Now I'm patiently waiting for the mass exitus to Canada although, I'm not holding my breath.

Ya it's pretty racist of them to not want to move to Mexico, guess they don't want to live near brown people...very racist.

Must be the grass is greener on the other side mentality because Canada is so similar to the US. They have some stuff that is different but overall, its really not that different according to my aunt that is from there.

I don't know, resident stone and dall sheep tags over the counter. An absolute duck and goose factory. If I could find a decent job I would have moved there a long time ago.

A good way to start, is simply writing our newly elected officials and letting them know how we feel about this issue. They won't know if we don't tell them!

Also joining the organizations (BHA) that standup and fight for us would be a decent start too.

I too am not a fan of "waiting and seeing".

Just realize that BHA is using this election to breed fear and broaden their membership just as the NRA would have done had Hillary won. Don't buy the BS, its a business model. Give Trump a chance and see what happens.

I only see two problems with waiting - your allies in this particular fight (mostly liberals) wont be able to stand beside you with firepower as they are anti gun. The other problem is on the other side of the aisle - people like the Bundy's have been so demonized in their modus operandi that they might not stand with you either. So its up to those in the middle who play armchair quarterback and get all their news from the MSM.

I have always believed in those that stand up for what they believe in, and some day I might join you but I see no clear and imminent danger at this point.

We have pretty much the same animals that Canada has, all of which are for the most part OTC free tags, we can kill two goats on Kodiak annually, a annual hunting/fishing license costs me $48, an extra $10 if i want a King stamp, and I can legally carry a loaded, concealed weapon in my pocket, without a permit, just about anywhere in the state. Oh, and the taxes I pay don't hold a candle to what I would pay as a Canadian citizen. I think I'll stay right where I'm at.

After reading this, it sounds like I'm bragging, it's not a brag, I just feel very fortunate to live where I live and I wouldn't trade it for any place in the world. God bless America.

Ya, I'm constantly on the prow for jobs in Alaska as well. As soon as the old lady graduates we may make the jump.

The two goats is very tempting.

I forgot one more perk, in 11 years my hunting and fishing license will be free for the rest of my life. Although, I'm not necessarily looking forward to that.

Part of the reason I scan for jobs in AK that are in my field. Although I also scan MT.

Besides the outer coast of my home state, I'm ready to move elsewhere

I don't see anyone crying and whining here, this is a legit concern for sportsmen and it was the first thing that went through my head after my excitement that Trump won. So what are the best steps to be proactive? Sad part is I hunt with a couple guys that we can't even bring this topic up they honestly believe the transfer is a good idea and a way to quit having regulations on federal land, just makes me wonder how many sportsman are actually for land transfer.....

Wouldn't you say, that with three branches of government being in the hands of republicans, that a push to transfer of control of federals lands is more likely to be successful. Whether you want this transfer to occur or not, I would say that the chances of this happening have never been greater. Of course this also does not mean that it will happen.

I believe that the BHA is right to advertise this fact, just as the NRA is correct to do the same if Democrats controlled three branches. I believe it is the job of these organizations to give a "heads up" so-to-speak, on what type of issues may be coming at their membership. After all if they didn't warn of possible future challenges, what kind of public land advocates would they be? I don't see it as "breeding fear".

I find it funny that the vast majority of people on hunting forums are republicans who have now handed control of the senate and congress over to the same republicans who are the ones pushing for the tranfer of public lands to the states, and now they are worried about the future of our public lands?
State controlled lands are hardly public. Many do not allow camping on them at all, much less target shooting. States will have the power to sell those lands whenever they need money.

I'm guessing a considerable portion. Blanket anti-federalism is ubiquitous in the West, and it's a major concern to sportsman. My largest concern is absolutely a public land transfer. A unified Republican house, senate and white house may be a lot of things, but staunch supporter of federal public lands is not one of them. Even if Trump personally supports federal public land (a stance which began to erode over the past month), it's brutally hard to stand up to your own party. It could easily be a bargaining chip to give to the legislative branch in return for support for the major spending bill he wants for infrastructure.

I don't care if you voted Trump or Clinton, I just hope you'll stand and fight for federal public land. It is going to have to be a bipartisan effort. Hunters, anglers, granola-backpackers, birdwatchers, day hikers...a coalition exists if we can set aside cultural differences. When the land becomes managed by the states, we can kiss it goodbye.

It says right in that interview he doesn't care if it's state owned or fed owned, it just need to be public. That's a red flag guys.... the Feds don't get to tell the states what to do with their land(in most circumstances). So if the states want to sell it they will.

Right on the money.

I find it sad that on a site dedicated to "hard core hunters", that people would be so inclined to mock and ridicule others for being concerned about the future of public lands. It's really sad, and shows the intellect and maturity of some folks. Without public lands, how much backcountry hunting do you really think will happen? Isn't that what this site is about?

I am certainly willing to give Trump a chance. Do I think public lands are doomed? No. Do I think they are in jeopardy? Certainly. I will, and hope others do, engage in the governmental process in the way that our country intended it to and tell my elected public officials where I stand on the issue and ask them to support that. If that makes me a whiner or a liberal then so be it.

I don't trust the Republican party one bit in regards to the stewardship and accessibility of my public lands. There is a Constitutional Amendment that protects my right to keep and bear arms. There is no constitutional protection for my places to hunt.
