Truck Tire Prices - Wow...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised with how crazy prices have gotten on things the last few years, but I am probably needing new tires before hunting season. My current tires are 275/60/20 BFG AT2. Purchased from Discount tire back in 2023 and a total out the door cost of around $1150.

This time I was thinking I would maybe move up to 275/65/20s - just a bit taller tire and since they are now the new option - look at the BFG AT3. Was looking last night and they are around $430 a tire!!!! That going to be around $1800 mounted and ready to go!!

Crazy tire prices have gone up as much as they have over the last couple of years....
I run Falken Wildpeak AT3W's on my truck. I'm on my second set and I really like them. Mavis tire has them for $249.99. That would save you a lot of $$$

Stop letting tire shops rip you off. $370/tire shipped. It should cost less than $150 to have installed.
Also I see you are in Missoula. Try TIreRama. I bet they are closer to $400/tire all in. That's where I got mine. Closer to $1300 installed a few months ago. But I have a Tremor with 18s. The 285/75r18s are currently only $304 each on Simple Tire.

Les Schwab is ALWAYS overpriced from what I see. Also, if you want to see how they are wearing in person, PM me.

I tried TireRama here in Stevi for car tires. 50% more than Discount Tire, where I buy all of my tires.
Discount has a shop under construction next to Home Depot on Reserve and I can't wait until it's open.

I love Northern Arizona, would move there in a second. No way could you get me to live in the valley. Unfortunately, most of the jobs are down there.
I’m happily an hour plus from the valley and only go up there when necessary.

I'm trying a new tire called Hercules this go around. Made in America and side wall is thicker according to the tire store. Also has road hazard. Just got 10k on them so no review yet. They are 10 ply.

I just switched to these on my truck and they are great so far. They are on sale Through June 15 for another $80 off. That would put you at $1246 installed. Super deep tread and quiet on the road.

It won't be Cooper At3 unless you buy used or find old stock...that very awesome tire was discontinued.
Cooper was bought by good year in 2021...most offerings have been redesigned and renamed...and if you can believe it...quality appears to have gone down IMHO.
At3 was a great all around tire...it is sorely missed
So far loving the Cooper Stronghold AT on a 2500 Denali diesel

I think Hercules are made by Cooper…

I did not know that. That will be great. As long as this particular one doesn't give you crap about larger than standard sized tires...

Bought 265 70 17 E rated KO2 tires back in 2021 for $251 each. Guess they are discontinuing them and just bought 4 more this week for $245 each. Got 62,000 on last set and probably swap them out with these in Sept.

Glad to have avoided the tire inflation for the time being.

I just put some Michelin Defenders on my 4Runner from Costco. $1,100. Seems like that’s what I paid for them 10 years or so ago.

265/65R17 BF Goodrich Trail Terrains $240 per tire. Bought a 2024 Frontier last July. Came with junk street tires. Need 4x4 to pull out on wet grass. Have plugs in two, hole in the third. Need something to run on woods roads, but mostly highway miles at 70 mph plus so I don’t want the road noise. Seems to be a decent compromise. Had a set on my old truck and had no issues with them.

Those of you buying tires are you also paying the extra money for the warranty’s shops offer? I struggle to pay another $200 for a 4 year warranty but you get one junk tire and it does pay for itself.

I don’t. The warranty replacement is pro rated based on tread wear. I just take my chances and go. If there is a manufacturing defect that’s usually covered by the manufacturer.

I have bought and used the discount tire/americas tire certs often
Then cover full replacement down to the wear bars. You just pay the mount/balance and new cert.

But if you him and haw and say idk.
They will usually know some of the cert price down and the mount/balance.

So it brings the total out the door closer to the same and is easier to stomach.
