Truck Tire Prices - Wow...

Hell yeah , I don’t have the same tires on all four corners
I have a mix of BFG at & cooper at3
But everything has a 10 ply E rating

Next set will be cooper at3 or Goodyear ultra terrain at
It won't be Cooper At3 unless you buy used or find old stock...that very awesome tire was discontinued.
Cooper was bought by good year in 2021...most offerings have been redesigned and renamed...and if you can believe it...quality appears to have gone down IMHO.
At3 was a great all around tire...it is sorely missed

Purchased a set of Milestar Patagonia XTs for my Jeep after always buying premium tires. You usually get what you pay for, but these tires have been great so far. No issues whatsoever on and off road. Might buy another set for my half ton truck after the Nittos wear out. Under $300 a tire for 35x12.50 20

A tire to check out depending on size is the Kenda Klever RT as well. I have a couple of friends using them and so far they really like them. Can get different sizes for around 1000-1100 per tire off Ebay or Walmart.

My quoted price on those same tires in the midwest would be about $1800 installed out the door including 6.5% sales tax.
Thats a bit high, but if your in Montana Im sure they are paying more freight/shipping to get them there to start with...not outside the realm of reason.
Thats at a roughly 26% profit margin before any expenses other than tire cost factored in...pretty low...and we will likeky be closer to price you posted in few months once the price increases all settle in and our new facility opens.

Stop letting tire shops rip you off. $370/tire shipped. It should cost less than $150 to have installed.
Also I see you are in Missoula. Try TIreRama. I bet they are closer to $400/tire all in. That's where I got mine. Closer to $1300 installed a few months ago. But I have a Tremor with 18s. The 285/75r18s are currently only $304 each on Simple Tire.

Les Schwab is ALWAYS overpriced from what I see. Also, if you want to see how they are wearing in person, PM me.

Whats Taco Bonespur?

Probably a Democrat trying to be edgy.

Anyway, why would anyone use Les Schwab? Their prices are nuts lol

The last few sets of tires I bought, I found on Walmart.com, watching prices and just get something that has good reviews as it goes on sale.
33" Nokian Outpost AT's were about $100 a tire.
35" Kenda RT were around $150 each.
275/70R18 Kenda ATs were around $120

Then I pay a tireshop $15 to mount and balance each.
These are all quality tires and I have been very pleased with their performance.

My 5500 has to use the 110 PSI tires. Just had the following done at the closest Ram dealer because this is my only truck still under warranty (Myself or one of my guys service all our other vehicles)…

Oil change and filter
Both fuel filters
Air filter
Cabin filter
6 new tires
Alignment

Try and guess what my total bill was.

I use to work for Les Schwab and employees would buy their tires online and mount them…unless you get lots of flats your generally money ahead to do that and pay for flat repair when needed.

The last time I went to them, I had a seized lug nut. They told me it would be 150 bucks to fix it. They could get all the other lug nuts off but the one. I told them to pound sand and took it to a local shop. They fixed all 4 seized lug nuts on one tire (remember Les Schwab had 5 of the 6 off, which means they over torqued 3 more) and they charged me 60 bucks.

You do know that using other shops does not void the warranty, right?

The quote he got isnt ripping anyone off...its a bit higher than average, but thats retail business operation and capitalism at work....no one holding a gun your head saying you gotta buy tires there.
That online price you listed is notably cheaper than I can buy them from any distributor around here...if they can make money selling them at that price with shipping that just tells you how much mark up is really there before they ever make it to the installer.

Id be curious to see what it costs to send one back to them defective if you had an issue. I'd bet the shipping would be ridiculous abd not covered to send it back...maybe not🤷‍♂️. We get defective tires from all manufacturers here and there...distributor just brings new one, picks them up and issues credit.

You'll always find better prices carry out online...
You won't get much of a deal bringing them into alot of shops for install though if they are worth their salt and know it.
We charge extra on labor for any customer supplied parts/tires they want installed. Some complain and say its gouging....I say why would I do the amount of same work, covering the same overhead to make less money not selling the parts just because you found a deal online somewhere ?...go buy a tire machine, balancer, tools and learn to do it yourself in the driveway...most don't complain or just go elsewhere after that, either is fine by me.

I've never dealt with Les Schwab, but Im sure they are a typical chain store and will be higher on most stuff most of the time short of special sales.
Part of the difference there vs indy shop is they have a bunch of non contributing suites/management staff to feed up top in addition to front line employees/overhead that every shop has...welcome to corporate business structure. They will charge whatever the market will bare...if they are still in business, I guess its still working for the guys up top.

If you got a tire install connection, you'll always be money ahead buying online. Most of the general public doesn't thats why those places can charge what they do and stay alive.

Does the dealer even use OEM fluids and filters unless explicitly instructed to and a surcharge is tacked on?
They do. The only approved oil replacement is shell Rotella 15 40 and that’s because Mopar oil is shell rotella with a black jug and higher price.

I got into it with their corporate law team and my lawyer going back 7 years now. Not worth the hassle in the end.
