Truck Camping setups

Thinking of doing some type of Truck camping set up. Not sure how yet how or what I want to do, weather I want to just do a cot in the bed as I have a topper on the truck. Or if I want to do the rooftop type tents.
What do some of you have and do you have any pictures of the setup you have.
Would love to see some to get some ideas.

I’m going with the decked system and a cap to sleep in the back of my truck. I’ll take a kodiak flex bow tent with a cot if I’m going to be in one area for a while. I have the decked system already but trying to decide between the RSI smart cap and a leer sportsman’s cap.

I built mine. Pretty simple. 2x4 frame on each side, a 2x8 in the middle and then 1x6 perpendicular across that. Put plywood on top. Made a couple drawers that slide under. I followed someone else's YouTube video instructions. I can dig it up if your interested.

I've been sleeping on a pad in the back of my truck under the tonneau cover the last couple years, but picked up a topper this year. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. Think I've got about $25 into it. Running a small buddy heater for colder nights- with one of the topper windows cracked for ventilation.

Built it out of a pvc frame and plywood. Outdoor carpeting and I can set it up 3 different ways. Works really well and can store stuff underneath. My whole purpose was/is to have something simple and fast. I can pull over and be in my sleeping bag in about 5 minutes. And its Ginger approved.

iKamper skycamp 2.0. King size bed and is quite warm for winter camping. I use a Mr heater buddy or whatever it’s called to take the chill off at night and first thing in the morning when making coffee. Leaves the truck bed space for everything else.

I would only get a rooftop tent if I weren't planning to move the truck. It would be a pain to take the tent down every morning to go hunt. A canopy with a cot or decked type system is what I've used in the past, and the best part is being able to pull over on the highway and get great sleep without the need to set something up.

Now days I sleep in style.

I do a topper/cot combo. Leaves room for a large cooler and some space in between. I don’t get to sleep at the truck often but when I do, I sleep better than I do at home. Dust can become an issue depending on where you are.

Couple of guys have said they sleep better in their setups than at home. I agree with that......just something about being in the outdoors in your sleeping bag.

I've thought of doing something similar to this and using ice fishing sleds for drawers, poor man's decked system

I'm only 5'8", so I can sleep on top of the crossbed toolbox. Memory foam mattress, bedsheets, fleece blankets and bedspread, sleep as good as at home. Cooler, bucket toilet, buddy heater and dogbed down one side and still room to wheel in my Packwheel on the other....

I’ve been thinking about this too. But at 6’4 and short bed ram that eliminates the truck cap idea. Seems like rtt or the kodiak canvas bed tent might be best option

Exactly. It breaks down pretty easy too. I used some thread in insert nuts so I can bolt the frame together in a couple places. Then if I want to take it out it doesn't take up a ton of room in the shed. I could easily take out half of it if I just wanted one bed and taller storage on the other side.

Dust can be an issue but I sealed up my tailgate with weatherstrip kit that keeps a lot of it out.
