Trophy bird thread

Here’s another that I think is pretty special. My pop told me stories about this .410 shotgun from when he was young. After he died I took it out and called this bird into about 6 yards. That gun sits in my safe now and it’ll be my son’s if I ever have one. If not my niece will get it.

Was that a Dusky or a Vancouver? I’m not sure where you’re hunting but cool bird either way!

Ah, I agree probably Dusky then. Vancouvers are usually further south aren’t they? Super cool bird!

Not my first but a fine pintail, I shot the drake and my buddy next to me shot the hen. He gave me the hen to do a double mount with and I’m pretty stoked how it turned out.

I have my euro and a decent storm wigeon

I shot a euro/American hybrid some years back when I was young, regret not getting him mounted for this trio, Would have amazing in my book.

Now I’m just looking for a stud American wigeon to go in between cupped up.

This is what I’d call a trophy bird. We fooled with him a handful of times throughout the whole season. We killed him on the last day. First call to him was around 7 am, finally got him to come in something after 1 in the afternoon.

Great bird. Patience and waiting on them to come back to you after their hens leave them is a great strategy. They may go away but they will remember where they heard that “ hen”.

Wigeon are so cool and a storm wigeon is way up on my list. The only Eurasian wigeon I’ve shot was a hen, but I’d love to get a nice drake some day. Great birds!

I’ve been fortunate to shoot a few of my dream birds, but I’ve never had the chance at an Eurasian wigeon or mature cinnamon teal.

I shot this blue goose in South Dakota on the first morning out of a flock of snows. Only one I’ve ever shot.

The snow was shot in the central Willamette Valley on a foggy day. They landed outside the decoys silently and I was able to shoot this one by making a 125 yard ish sneak on them in the briars.

The Harlequins were killed last November in Larsen Bay AK. Eventually they’re getting mounted
