Tripod recommendations?

Looking for my first tripod for backpacking. IT will be used for 10x binos and camera right now. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

I think the slik mentioned above is the way to go. It's what I finally settled on and will get full standing height unlike the Pro-master if I'm correct.

I struggled with this a lot, finally settled on a sirui n-2204. 2.9 pounds and very sturdy, 33 lb load capacity. I tried some of the really lightweight tripods for packing and they just were not for me.

Depending on your height the Promaster could be fine

I’m in the same boat looking for a tripod as well I’m short so the promaster would work for me and was on my short list. I wanted to have the option to stand but most likely would be sitting. Sorry for jumping on your thread not trying to steal it just want to help out

promaster also makes a taller tripod, the xc528, which works great for an average height (5' 11") guy while standing. I think my brother (6' 4") had to duck a bit even at max height though

I’ve used my Slik 634 and Benro S2 for optics up to the 85mm Razor Spotter with no complaints.

This tripod is no longer made by Promaster. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

I’d recommend a flip style lock set up , had the twist locks on one sold it shortly , , I think the head is more important , no info regarding those as I am only at the beginning of that rabbit hole

I really liked my vortex summit ss p but it couldn’t handle my big scope. Ideal for small binos and scopes. So easy to deploy.
I love my slik 624 now but you have to sit with it. Not as easy as the vortex to setup but way more sturdy. The slik 634 was too physically large for my pack.

I would check out field optics research. They have a well priced carbon option I recently purchased. It seems great but I haven't used it in the field yet only at the range so cant vouch for durability etc. but worth a look. I almost went with outdoorsmans but I like having the hook on bottom to hang weight, that and the price difference swayed me to take a shot with the field optics research tripod.

I like the bog-pod. Multiple uses. Solid tripod for optics and switch out quickly for shooting rest.

carter any more feedback on the Field optics research tripod? What tripod did you get. I’m really struggling on between FOR or the pro master. Thanks
