Team,
I’m ordering a Swarovski ATS 65 HD Spotting Scope with the 25-50x Wide Angle Eyepiece for my Colorado sheep hunt. I did a lot of searching for the ideal tripod/head setup but looking for suggestions on my specific use case. Looking for:
-Good balance between weight and function. Location can be windy.
-I also plan to glass off it with my swaro 10x42 SLCs or 12x42 NL Pures. I currently use the Outdoorsmans stud/adapter.
-Quick and easy setup.
-Don’t need to glass standing but want some height range when sitting on steep hillsides.
-Don’t need to spend more than needed but cost not a major factor.
I have limited experience glassing with spotting scopes as most of my hunts don’t need it. I used my Leupold ALPINE CF-425 TRIPOD last weekend with my SX-2 ALPINE HD 20-60X80 spotter I normally use at the range. I realized I need a better spotter. The tripod/ball head seemed fine but perhaps there is a better option for the new swaro. Hand held cell phone pic through the spotter from last weekend:
