Hot weather hiking pants

Hot take!
REI Sahara zip off pants are legit. I have big legs. Meaty thighs and thick calves. I am 34/36 and 98% of hunting/outdoor pants are too tight in one area or all. The REI pants have a good relaxed fit. The material is light weight but has a nice texture so it doesn’t sound like sand paper when your thighs rub together. The zip off legs can be completely removed in 30 seconds. They cost $89 full retail.
Lots of different configurations to vent the legs when hot.
SG Praxis medium/large tall are the only other pants I have found fit me well. They are hotter than the REI zip offs though.

maybe the odd man out here. summer hiking or early season I seem to just put on my wrangler jeans. if the mornings are cool but the temps are supposed to heat up ill throw a light merino base lay under them.
It really depends on where you live. It's hot and humid as hell in OK. I live in KY now, it's not going to get below feels like 80. At 7:30 in the morning it's already feels like 85 going up to almost 110 in the heat of the day.

I have the Ferrosi. They are a very light pant, I'm not sure what others are talking about it as a softshell. It's a very lightweight nylon spandex blend.

I've been wanting to check out KETL MTN. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

Maybe someone here has? They look incredibly light/breathable.
Late reply sorry. Have a couple pair of the Ketl and I think they're great. As mentioned they are a drawstring but are very lightweight. No large cargo pockets if that's something you care about. Lightest and minimal of the ones mentioned by me.

Kuiu Tiburons have also worked well for me.

Have been using the kuhl resistor air pants a lot this year. I like the feel of them the best probably because they have cotton in them. Really enjoying them.

I'll throw a vote in for a @Cliff Gray suggestion, the Wrangler outdoor pants at Walmart. $30 a pair and I use them for anything including hiking, hunting, wet wading, and outdoor work. They're stretchy, comfortable, and dry super fast. Also, decently tough for what they are, put 60 miles on them during MD Bear last year, performed well.
I’m a carpenter and these are the only pants I wear at work. I’ve had 10-12 pairs and this point and I’ve yet to put a hole in one.

Man I hope you figure something out. I do the same types of hunts as yourself, just over in Arkansas. Early season bear is brutal, highs in the 90s feels like 110s with 85%-100% humidity. What I have been wearing mostly are the Sitka Ascent pants and merino or synthetic tops. I have used the original Born Primative Lights and Outdoor Vitals Altura as well but go back to the Ascents. On the top, I think I have decided I will hike in wearing synthetic and swap out to merino. It just makes me mentally feel better, not sure that will move the needle. Also, have been thinking/evaluating a change in pant this year but asides from diving back into some of the Kuhl brand, just havent seen anything that will be life-changing for myself.

I hunt pigs in SE Oklahoma every year, near Ada. My new pants of choice are the Underarmour light camo jogger pants. They are comfortable and cooler than a lot of other designs. No belt, just drawstring so it doesn't bother the day pack belt. They so far have held up well. I won't wear shorts in Oklahoma. Ticks are a serious problem and so are chiggers. Permethrin on my pants solves that problem. I buy them on Ebay, sometimes used but in great shape.

It might be worth your time to take a look at Rail Riders. I wear their Bushwacker pant. Might not be great in thick briars (I wear chaps over them in the thorns), but otherwise mine have served me well.

I'll throw REI trailmade pants into the mix too.

And I do like Prana zion pants too.
