Toyota listened, but totally ignored the US market. This upcoming release is a bare bones truck that would make a pretty nice little truck. Unfortunately, like the hilux, they’re not going to release it to the US market.

Nope, they'd kill sales of their high-priced, high-profit vehicles by offering a super-affordable truck that many would buy.
Same goes for their diesel offerings of the last few decades. U.S. buyers would snap them up in a heartbeat, but Toyota wouldn't dream of offering them. The big three probaby lobby against that option as much as anyone.

Those wouldn't be road legal in the US. They cannot legally bring that to market here.

If you want to be able to drive no frills vehicles in the US, the person not allowing it is your congressman/senator. Toyota would happily sell you that if they could.

I believe the reason they won't bring diesels is with the US emissions standards they can't make it as reliable as they want.
