Tough watch suggestions

So, I've been running a G-SHOCK for a while and it has been great. But it is getting to be time for a new one.

I like the big style watch, but am looking for something that doesn't stick out from my arm as much.

With the hardcore gear heads and military personnel I thought I could get some pretty good suggestions.

I like my sunnto core and feel it doesn't stick way out but then again maybe it does cause it looks beat up. Still works perfectly and I like that I can change the battery and not have to send it off for replacement. I had my band keeper or whatever it is called break, just called them up and they shipped a new one for free no questions asked other them my model and address.

Timex ironman - bombproof, you can see it at night, and you won't care if you scratch it up.

Tag hauer - chrono. Bullet proof. Keeps good time. You will be sad when you screw it up hunting.

Dollar for dollar, you can't beat the timex.

G-Shock. I've gone through a Timex Ironman and a Timex Expedition...the bands broke on both multiple times so I gave up and bought a G-Shock.

Titanium, sapphire crystal (about the toughest face you can get), alarm, japanese quartz movement. The titanium is super lightweight plus it is a nice dull finish which is fine for the outdoors but very doable in any other settings as well. I wanted a high quality watch that could do everything and wasn't crazy expensive. This watch was the best by far. Great company based out of Canada that specializes in diving stuff. Customer service is great as well.

I found mine on amazon for $200.

Timex Ironman gets my vote too. I don't have experience with any other watches because this one has lasted me YEARS! Very bright in the dark, cheap, rugged, had mine 5-6 years? And same battery.

All my buddies and I wear the Suunto core watches. They are awesome. I have beat mine all to hell and no problems whatsoever. It NEVER leaves my wrist! Altimeter, compass, barometer, elevation reference settings, thermometer, lightweight, tons of band options. Oh and very waterproof!

G-Shocks are nice, but I've had bad luck with them. Lost 2 surfing, and decided not to buy anymore. I know its not backcountry hunting, but still. One time while being held under, in the mayhem, my leash managed to wrap itself around my arm, and when my board went to the surface, my leash stretched, and it ripped my watch off with it. The other watch was lost when some kook ditched his board and I put my arm up to block it from hitting me in the face, like blocking a punch or kick. Board hit my arm and my watch broke as well.

I was given a Nixon that tells tides and such and it is pretty solid. Owned ironman watch and they get the nod too. Been looking into a sunnto for freediving/spearfishing and haven't found a local dealer that could help suggest me with a model that would be good for mountains/hunting too.

I have never had to in 4 years so I wouldn't know! Just tells me they have a sweet product! Hopefully it is as good as their products.

Crushed one overseas.... they replaced it.

Rolled down a cliff on a goat hunt, ripped the band off.....they replaced it.

Smashed the crystal with a hammer (long story), but they replaced it.

All I played was shipping for each issue.

They do, but it's not very functional (battery life is short) for hunting.

I own the core (which you can get for under $300) and I also own the new Ambit, GPS version. The Core is a much more solid build in my opinion. GPS drains battery rapidly.

I just recently looked at these watches. I like the options that the Suunto has. I saw that they have GPS capabilities, but never even thought about battery life. Are the features on the watch accurate?

I have a carbon Luminox...Very lite weight and indestructible.
