Tough watch suggestions

My vote goes to Luminox. Have had the same one for 5 years so far. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for!

I think I paid like 18 bucks fro a watch from Fred myers like three years ago that I only wear hunting and hiking. It's black, keeps time and blood seems to wash off it pretty good. Tough enough...

I have the Suunto Core and this is my second. The first gen Core had battery issues and I returned it as the battery drained in less than 5 months. My current Core, has been bulletproof and I'm getting over a year per battery. It has a big face but its very lightweight and you don't notice the size much.

suunto vector here. bought it as a return from gear trade. mines the one w a HR monitor which i like for training.
its about a year old and going strong.

ill be getting the casio pro trek 5100. may be worth a look to ya.

I have a PRW-5000Y that I really like. For daily wear I have a black, titanium bracelet and in adventure mode I have a rubber strap or a Nato strap. The Nato strap is nice as it is long enough to allow the watch to be worn over thick sleeves.

I have been looking at a Suunto as well, but they are pricey. I think they have a watch that has GPS capabilities.

I bought my brother a Suunto Core from STP. They have it priced at $224, but if you watch their keycodes you can get pretty great deals. I got his for 40% off with free shipping.

Anyone have the Suunto X Lander rather than the core? Is there much different than the case and looks? Supposedly a little more durable than the Core.

Another Vote for Luminox. I love mine. It doesnt do anything except tell time, but it has a manual timer with the face dial and never stops lighting up. I love how when its dark out and my hands are full, i can see what time it is without having to reach down and hit a button to illuminate the watch. Great warranty too..

I have the Suunto Vector, great watch but it does stick up a bit. Can't remember when I bought it but I have never had any problems with it.

Used to have the original Luminox seal watch - loved it. Man, that thing was tough. Threw it at the wall on a few occassions to prove to my friends just how tough it was. Whiskey was involved.

Now I just wear an Ironman. It's served me well. Do I miss the luminox? Absolutely. But I paid $250 back then for the Luminox (they have gone up), and something like $30 for the Ironman...

Another vote for the Suunto Core. I love mine and dont really go anywhere without it. The one conclusion I took away from messing around with GPS enabled watches is that there is only so much detail and information that can be projected on such a small screen.

I think there was a similar post a while back so you may find more info in that post too.

I have been wearing a Casio pathfinder for 3 years without issues only replaced the band but that was my preference.
Never have to replace the battery because it is solar. It also has all the functions the Sunnto has like temp/barometer/altimeter.
I like the watch and have had no issues might try a Sunnto down the road but I know they go through batteries every 6 months or so. Not sure why they don't have solar.
