I try to deal with moisture the best I can with layer management, but I seem to always be sweaty so I'd like to get into some base pieces that dry quick. My girlfriend says I'm not that stinky so I think I can give up the odor control of the merino. I use First Lite stuff, can you guys recommend a line from a brand that you've had good experience with?

Serki PCU level 1 base layers with 3% silver fiber. Military clothing, comes in t shirt, boxers, 1/4 zip top and long bottoms. Make sure the tag says 3% silver fiber.

I’d start with one piece and make sure you aren’t stinkier than you think. Anything synthetic and I smell like a wildebeest by noon. 8days in wool and only slightly offensive.

Some people swear by wool. There is another camp that thinks it doesn’t stay as dry as synthetic either due to high humidity environments or constant sweating. I am in the latter camp. I have a few merino base layers but most often wear synthetic. My current stable for hunting is a mix of Sitka core lightweight and Patagonia capilene. Both are great. The sitka handles stink a bit better I think. I go for the light stuff and layer over top as needed for warmth. I find a trend to prefer zip necks to dump heat.

I have high hopes for some of the merino blends coming out that are like 50/50 wool synthetic. Seems like it could be the best of both worlds.
