If that is a person's motivation, may as well donate to a non profit helping conservation and get the tax break. Some would argue that the money spent on these PPs is helping conservation.
I drew my Wy tag 6 or so years ago and just dropped my wifes 20 points this year. Not paying them anymore. You can go to NFL or Alberta the same price or cheaper than you can go guided in WY
True but 3k for a cow tag is steep!I'd have kept them and gone hunting diy for a Cow.
There is only one non-resident random bull tag in Wyoming in 2024.
There were only 5 preference point cow tags, they each took over 20 points to draw. So over $3000 in points and a $3000 tag.
The bull tags took on average 23 (max points) to draw. There were about 23 bull only or any moose tags. They all took max points.
I don't think anyone should be applying for a random tag unless they are in the 22-23 points range. It is too much money to tie up for 5 months.
(Attached) alot of those guys had about $2500 invested in the NR WY sheep process. Another $2500 in Moose..... So over $3000 in points and a $3000 tag.

About $5K stolen.
Pretty disgusting how WY GFD defrauded their dedicated consumers.
Not to single you out but to use your situation as an illustration of what people are up against. There are more variables than I address in my math below but again, it is just for illustrating a point.I just bought my 20th point for both WY moose and sheep. At 43 years old- I feel I’m pot committed and hoping maybe I will get lucky enough to draw before I’m too old to physically do it. I’ve wasted $300 annually on worse things i suppose haha
I agree that would have been the way to go at the beginning. The problem is they can't switch at this point in the game or they will face serious legal attacks.Scenarios like this is why I argue that the PA Game Commission is doing the best thing they can with their elk lottery system. Every year you enter your name is in the hat one more time, so you can draw on year one or never draw but there would be no reason to enter if it was a preference point system for residents or non-residents
