I'd really like to throw tire chains on the front wheels of a 3G Tacoma. Truck is stock. I have v-bar chains for the rear. The mud here can be hell to deal with especially when grades get steep. Either wait until it freezes or send it.

I have seen spacers mentioned (https://wheelersoffroad.com/spidert...-5-5-bolt-circle-for-toyota-axles-whs007.html). Seems sketchy but would give enough clearance. Can you run these year round no issue?

Honestly are there any IFS vehicles or half ton trucks that can easily throw chains on the front these days? Curious what everyone's setup is.

Lotta guys run spacers. I'll pass on em though.

Not as cheap, but why not stick a locker in the front?
Not sure if a locker would help in this scenario. Rear locker doesn't help when the mud is that slick. This is the hard pack clay when the top layer gets wet it turns to grease. There are no ruts or give to it. You can push the truck when it's parked and get it to slide slick.
