Tips to pick up CO leftover tags?

It appears you weren't at any commission meetings this past year where CPW addressed bots getting tags. There isn't anything illegal about it. The software is very similar to the same software third parties use to get thousands of concert tags. Venues drop tickets at a certain time on a certain day and it's first come first serve for tickets very similar to how CPW does tags. There is a reason these sights are able to obtain thousands of tags and resell them for high mark up. CPW's site has some of the worst coding ever and anyone worth their salt would never admit to building or working on anything like that. By the way the premium tags that hit the list are going for way more than 200 dollars. Some of those tags are worth 10,000 or more. Guys will pay a premium to skip the line and hunt a great unit every year. I suggest you fill out a CORA request and you will see that it is humanely impossible for the speed and quantity that these tags are getting purchased.

The reissue process is first come first serve. You are confusing the secondary draw to the reissue process

Bots are real as the sun and are grabbing most of the good tags. Believe it or not up to you but the naysayers pry don’t believe folks are getting event tickets and concert tickets the same way ….

rumors are any tag with any quality are picked up by software engineers gaming the system. There was a guy on another forum offering his service for this. I saw screenshots of the PMs. Not illegal as I understand, but even if not true, very hard to get a decent tag on this system.

If you're not sure you're doing it right, try and grab a private land doe antelope and it'll land in your cart. You don't have to buy it.

Sure a few slip through but again I have seen it first hand as well = heck one guy in Utah has 15 dedicated fiber optic lines..

Sure changed from where it started….

Maybe look to low demand tags. Like cow elk tags east of I-25….

I actually hope you’re right and it’s a totally fair system.

If it was, then the probabilities of getting a tag wouldn't be zero.

Now, having said that......sure, there are guys getting tags. But not all reissued tags are worthy of the money spent on a BOT.

My friend successfully got a muzzy deer tag last week. He's tried every week so far. He logs in 5 minutes before and just constantly refreshes. It's one of those things where you can't have any hesitation. If it's there, grab it and checkout, quickly. It's still very much a luck thing to be able to see it before someone else does. You're talking fractions of a second. Also, don't have multiple windows. Focus on one tag. He lost an Elk tag trying to multitask like that.

Na that’s not the solution… Idaho does this and there are residents that will buy you a proxy tag for a fee. This also creates a non residents issues (neighboring states even) from being able to pick up a tag

It’s possible, remember it’s high demand so they go very quickly (I have had numerous instances where they became available but someone else hit add to cart faster). They aren’t loaded into the list and missed until the message goes from not available for sale to no quota, if you were fast but not fast enough you make it to the add to cart page as a teaser, after the person actually buys the tag it goes back to not for sale.

This guy gets it. People thinking they are just going to click really fast and a get a premium tag are delusional. These tags are valuable I mean this is a six figure side hustle.

Bunch of woman crying. These tags used to go straight to the garbage, no chance for anyone. Was it better when they were dumped all times of the day, on differnet days? Sure, but there were monitoring apps then that were offered to people who wanted an edge.

Enjoy it for what it is, not what it's not. If you want a sure thing, go to walmart, ladies aisle....... You guys will do well there.

CO doesn’t have a proxy system, non transferable. Out of staters would be welcome to attempt in person w the same terrible odds as the rest of us.

The barrier (in person tag purchase only) that creates for nonresidents would be large. While I understand residents like that idea, non residents pay the lion share of the fees that support CPW so not a great idea to make it more difficult for them to give their non resident money to CPW

yeah don’t really care about CPW getting extra bucks, don’t really care about NR getting access to turn ins, let’s be real CO issues 10x more tags to NR every year than about the entirety of all other western states combined… really this argument don’t matter cause I’d reckon 95% of leftovers are going away come 2028
