Tikka’s market share on bolt actions

Seems pretty subjective!

If Ruger is junk and Bergara can’t get it together, I would be curious to know what their share of the bolt action market is.

Obviously I’m just guessing, but I would say that both of those manufacturers probably have more of the market than tikka.
There is nothing subjective about it. There is no way to argue that a Ruger American is on par for quality or longevity of a Tikka.

The Tikka has a better barrel, a better bolt, a better trigger and a better stock. What's left for the ruger to win on?

Search this forum or internet for "Bergara issues" there is probably 2 dozen threads on rokslide alone about people having insane accuracy issues with Bergara. No other manufacturer has as many threads about them.

Join a Bergara Facebook group and just watch, it's non stop guys chasing accuracy, trying different ammo and sharing their interactions with Bergara about their warranty claim.

Google says Top ten list as of 2021
1-Ruger American
2-Remington 700
3-Browning x bolt
4-Savage 110
5-Savage Axis
6-CZ 457
7-Tikka T3/T3x
8-Mossberg Patriot
9-Weatherby Vanguard
10-Winchester M70

Course a lot has changed in the last 3-5 years, and like I said, all you have to do is see what stock manufactures carry the most models of and can derive on the largest market share. Just look at the models Magpul carries alone, which is Remington 700, Savage, and Ruger American. When you compare the 700 series, you have to lump in all those like Bergara, customs, etc that use a Rem 700 footprint. Along with the Howa 1500 and Weatherby Vanguards all having the same footprint. These companies that rely on the replacement stocks, will make and carry the manufacturers that have the largest market share. Same as trigger, and magazine companies. They have to, so they can play the "odds" of selling their products. But, with Remington's decline in the last few years, it will take Tikka a while to over take them in market share, but I don't see why they can not. Interesting thread, thanks!

The last shall be first, IMO!

What would you say are the advantages of having a tikka over something like a Ruger American 2 or Bergara?
Over Rugers? Prefit barrels are nice. Fit and finish of the Tikka is better. The trigger that comes with the Tikka is better.

Over Bergaras? Reliability in harsh conditions, especially as it relates to snow/ice. That's not subjective or an opinion.

Why exactly does market share have anything to do with quality? Savage almost certainly dwarfs both Ruger/Bergara, let alone Tikka. Are you going to argue that a Savage is better than a Tikka?

If I had to bet money who made this comment it would have been on you .

In all seriousness, IMO opinion the M70 is pretty much tied with Tikka for the best factory production action.

I dont think this guy is trying to be convinced. I think he's already made up his mind.

It doesn’t! But if you guys would take a minute to re-read the title of the thread you will see that this whole things started to discuss market share.

Then I asked you a question that someone else answered with their opinion. Answering based off of opinion is the definition of subjective!

I’m not arguing that any one manufacturer is better than another, I’m simply asking questions on why you guys feel that it is superior. The answers I have got in the last few posts are that this is better and that’s better, and to search the forum for other people’s issues. But it seems that most members take their tikka and immediately start replacing the stock and barrel. Then they modify the bolts, triggers, etc.

Very little tinkering with bolts that I have seen, though a few do get fluted.

Trigger spring replacements used to be more popular. Reliability issues have cut that way back of late.

From a Hornady podcast talking about new cartridge success... "if we can get Ruger to chamber it in the American rifle, we know it'll be successful".
