So long story short i bought a T3x lite in 6.5 creedmoor on clearance from my local Academy about 6 months ago. Took it to a local smith and had the barrel cut to 16 inches and threaded. I have finally got around to getting a scope on it this weekend. This gun is intended to just be a buggy gun and my first Tikka to play with. Initial attempt to sight in sunday with suppressor on it was horrible. Gun was shooting so far to the right that it was almost a foot off. Came back in and tore it apart. Cleaned and rechecked and torqued everything. Took it back out yesterday and same results.
Came in today after work and took it out and shot it unsuppressed and first 3 shots were just left of bullseye. Screwed the suppressor on and took a shot and it didnt even touch paper. Took another shot and aimed far left edge of target and it hit just outside ring and high. About 15 inches right.
Removed suppressor and put next 3 rounds almost in bullseye. The can is a Gemtech One, super heavy can and i have shot it on several different rifles and never experienced this. Anybody have any thoughts? Is the weight just throwing the barrel harmonics off this bad? Where my finger is pointing on the white target is where it impacted with can on. Other shots all unsuppressed.

Yeah man, you have to re zero your gun when you thread on a suppressor. Not to mention a 16 oz one. It’s possible you’re also getting stock contact with the barrel.
That unsuppressed group is far larger than it should be as well.
I know all about that. The gun will not zero with the can it. Its not touching the stock. Already checked.

Did you shoot a group with it on? I don't see one posted. If so, was it different than the group without it?
Yea, i tried zeroing it sunday with it on. It was so far to the right i ran out of windage in the scope. And it was throwing them every where. Hence why i took it out this afternoon without the can. I bore sighted the scope looking thru the barrell and that the first 3 shots you see on the target to the left of the bullseye. I then screwed can on and fired one shot that didnt even hit the target it was so far right. I then aimed as far to left of white target paper i could and thats the one shot you see my finget pointing at that shows where it hit with can on it while aiming that far left. I then pulled can off and fired the next 3 you see just above bullseye.

This really sounds like you are getting mild baffle strikes. Get a guide rod and check things out before shooting anything else.

On my 16.5” Tikka, the difference between a 16 ounce suppressor and no suppressor is 3-4” of elevation.

I just pulled cap off can, no strikes.

This sounds exactly like the sort of problems I had when I had stacking tolerance errors from a crappy adapter on my .22. That gave me very mild baffle strikes that moved my POI 3 feet left and a foot low at 25 yards. As soon as I replaced the crappy adapter, the POI shift was about 0.5” low at 50 yards.

Something in your system is seriously out of whack. You need to check everything, but particularly get a guide rod and check the alignment of the suppressor and your bore.

Could you see the strikes inside the baffles?

Nope. I could see lead shavings from the .22 bullets.
Ah, interesting, i just assumed there would be major damage or atleast something i could see on the inside. Thank you for the insight, next step will be getting the right size rod to check it with.

I don’t know where you are located, but if you are near me (central Virginia), I would be happy to loan you one. I got mine off ebay for about $25.
