1/2-28 threads. Got it from a local shop.
Thanks… Wish there was some rhyme or reason for the inconsistency. I ordered one online and was assured by the shop that it was 5/8-24 based upon the Tikka website. We’ll see what I actually get.

New to the bolt gun thing, (been a gas and 22 guy), what are people running for glass on these ranch tikkas?

I’m mainly plinking and punching paper inside 250-300 yards- often within 75-150.

I threw on a SFB 18x Bushnell, but wondering how it would do with something like an Athlon 4-20x in FFB.

Thanks

Depends on what you want to do with it, but IMO you are way overglassed. Think LPVO/MPVO. Or a SWFA SS fixed 6X.

Has anyone attempted to remove the rail yet? It’s definitely glued down but the owners manual says to get a gunsmith to remove it so that implies it can be done.

Well, I just fell for a great price from locked and loaded, 16" 223 enroute to my FFL. (Also a SS 7mm08 just because I don't have one in the gun room right now).

Now to buy a couple trigger springs - best to get them from Ernie?

If you’re talking about the very front screw on the rail, I had the same thought when I got mine. It just felt like a strange oversight in manufacturing so I looked into it and it’s supposed to be that way. It’s for the attachment of a mirage shield. I guess the CTR has it as well.
Yes exactly. DO NOT try to force it down, it will bend the rail up… I did that many many years ago on a Tikka Boar Hunter (dumbass…)

If it bothers you, you can take it out.
