Does Tikka make a 10 twist?
My 223 is clearly labeled as a 10 twist. It is an older T3 though so maybe they stopped?

Does Tikka make a 10 twist?
6 months ago I was probably arguing against a tikka. Early October I bought my first, now I own 3. 1:8 twist 223 with a trijicon Huron 3-9. View attachment 655781
Yes, 1” medium. T048c I think is the numberAre those sportmatch rings. Medium height? I’m looking to use a set on the same gun/ scope combo and was curious how they worked out

It may be prudent to add that 223 is not currently legal for big game in every state.Going to order first Tikka tonight. Torn between 223 or 6.5cm, brain is fried. Read the 223 thread, 223 makes things dead. Read the 6.5 thread, 6.5 also makes things dead.
Do I have these right?
*223 has (obviously) less recoil, easier to spot own shots.
*6.5c has low to moderate recoil, can still likely spot own shots.
*223 a little bit cheaper to practice with.
*6.5c has a longer effective range.
*both suitable for high volume practice, with some advantage to 223.
That about sum things up?
If you could only have one...?
Likely not slotting all/most of your shots with 6.5cm unless braked.Do I have these right?

I think that's how I'm leaning.I own a 6.5 CM. I wish I had bought a .223 instead. It would cover every situation I find myself in with no downsides.
True, but it's legal in Idaho and I'm not rich enough for any tags that start with "nonresident."It may be prudent to add that 223 is not currently legal for big game in every state.
1. Thanks. Good to know that 6.5c is probably not going to allow me to spot shots. That pretty much makes my decision right there.Likely not slotting all/most of your shots with 6.5cm unless braked.
223 is way cheaper to practice with. $0.35 a round versus $1.50 a round for 6.5cm factory.
6.5 cm isn’t really going to be for high volume, depending on what “volume” means to you. “Volume” to me, in this context means 3,000-5,000 rounds a year. 223 is much, much better for that.
223 with 1-8” twist without quequestion
Sounds like a good choice but I'm only hunting 1 state for the time being. If i could absolutely only have 1 rifle for 50 states, all game & it had to be a Tikka, I'd be reeeeally hard pressed not to go with a 1:8 .243
And I love my 6.5 & .223!
If budget is tight, you’ll be glad to have the .223. After 1,000 rounds of .223, you’ve saved enough in cash (vs 1k rounds in 6.5cm) to actually buy an additional rifle in 6.5cm.True, but it's legal in Idaho and I'm not rich enough for any tags that start with "nonresident."
This is ideal but not at all required. If you’re looking to save cash during practice, buy the cheapest ammo you can that still groups well enough.2. I was under the assumption that meaningful practice with the 223 would necessitate a bullet in the same weight class I would be hunting with.
I will be using your math and justification process!! Well played sirIf budget is tight, you’ll be glad to have the .223. After 1,000 rounds of .223, you’ve saved enough in cash (vs 1k rounds in 6.5cm) to actually buy an additional rifle in 6.5cm.
This seems to be the appropriate thread to broach this question. I just bought a t3x in 6.5 creed, dropped it off at the GS on my way home from the shop had it chopped to 20 inches and threaded. Wears a swfa 10x. Is the vertical grip and cheek riser the way to go for a stock? Krg bravo? Stockys?
Having read through all of these threads I kinda wish I got a 223 instead….
Get the 223 also!! Then you have one for each handThis seems to be the appropriate thread to broach this question. You can't hunt everything everywhere with a .223, you can hunt anything anywhere with a 6.5. I cant hunt elk with a .223 in Wyoming so I won't buy a bolt gun smaller than 6mm. I am shooting my AR in 5.56 as a trainer. This seems to be the appropriate thread to broach this question. Generally, an AR isn’t an awesome replacement trainer for a bolt gun. You generally lose some precision. But also, positional shooting typically changes with an AR vs Sporter hunting stock. Recoil reduction is typically different as well. And you lose the bolt manipulation practice.I am shooting my AR in 5.56 as a trainer
My newest Rokslide Special is at the smith getting worked on, but will be out side the box just enough to be different, but close enough to hopefully be part of the club - lol.
8 twist SS 22-250 that is being rechambered to 22 creed and chopped and threaded at 19", added vertical grip on factory stock. More than likely going to top it with the S&B 3-12X42 on a 20moa rail. That will get me out as far as I plan on shooting.
