It’s measured from the bolt face. I shut the bolt and put a cleaning rod down until I hit the bolt face and make a mark at the crown to measure.

I just picked up a used T3 .223 that came with a few surprise upgrades in a EGW rail, trigger spring, Mtn Tactical shroud, and a foam filled buttstock. I removed the rail for Sportsmatch rings I had in the bin, and swapped for a steel lug and torx action screws while it was apart. It’s the older 1:12” twist barrel, but shoots 55gr vmax into a ragged hole. It fast became a new favorite.

Anyone have a compact model?
I do… it’s not a true compact I guess cause it has a 22” barrel. It started life as a SuperLite but I put a compact stock on it for my sons to shoot.

Tikka T3X Superlite
Compact stock with ‘custom’ backyard paint job
223 1-8”
SWFA 3-9 in Sportsmatch rings
77gr TMK from Unknown Munitions

That’s the coolest thing I’ve seen… awesome to see your son out there like that.

Parents take note- kids should carry and manipulate their own rifles. Do not carry it for them.

Thats not actually legal everywhere. In PA, until the kid is 12 they are not allowed to be moving with the firearm.
I'm going to try not to derail the thread too much here but that has got to be one of the most ridiculous nonsense laws I've ever heard. I sure hope its one of those that's not strongly enforced and most law enforcement officers over look that.
If my kids are under my watch and being safe, I see no place for that law.

I'll hop off my stump now lol.

I wish everyone a Happy New Year! May you be blessed with good health, shoot straight, and have many good hunts.

There's nothing the pgc officers like better than harassing a dad hunting with kids. Way easier than actually enforcing the laws that matter.
Papers Please !
I live in one of the redest states, it is hard to imagine these things, is it still illegal to hunt with an AR there?

Made a couple changes to my 20" rokslide special. sent it to unknown munitions along with another compact 6.5 to get cerakoted and put it in a regular oem stock that I painted and opened up the barrel chanel/ dremeled down the ridges. Added a UM hunter rail and a 6x swfa on it with sportsmatch rings. Shooting better now and the 6x is pretty idiot proof. PXL_20231229_232458139 (1).jpg

Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42

I have more confidence in this setup than in any other rifle I’ve had or used. Shot varied ranges between 340 and 610 yards today. Extremely easy.View attachment 649498
Any idea what this setup weighs. Looking to do something similar but was gonna use a different scope. But the credo fits well there.
