I see the Tikka T3x factory take off stocks posted for roughly $50 in the classifieds all the time. Why would someone buy one? (They come with one...) are yall doing modifications that occasionally don't go well and you need a round 2, 3 or 4?

I have a factory take off stock laying around. Just wondering if I am missing out on a fun and unnecessary DIY project?

I just bought one off ebay. $52 shipped

Carved on one a while back and it didnt go the way I wanted so tossed it. This one will get ground out to lemme use them fancy aics mags.

Carve the forends out for arca plates... stash your wood so it doesn't get banged up hunting. Just have an extra. Alot of them are generated by guys wanting the barreled action to put in a chassis. For instance, this is a ruger g2 at heart20250130_151819.jpg

This. I’ll buy a few to cut down until he can use a full-size. Still cheaper than shoes on a growing kid

Another vote for easy cut down. Plus, the kids like to do cheap and easy camo jobs with sponges and spray paint to make them their own

I've bought them to cut down as well I'm also trying to scheme up a way to attach an ar buffer tube to one and make my own adjustable stock just to see if I can do it

If you’re gonna change out the stock anyway, you can buy the laminate, walnut or compact versions and get more in return sometimes. Especially if you buy the closeouts from EO. Just an example, the standard blued 7mag is $649 and the Hunter is $749. As said, the standard black synthetic sells for about $50 and some people even give them away. You can get $250+ for the walnut on the Hunter. So the Hunter model is a better buy in that sense.
