Assuming you know already, but just in case…you can use a .308 family gauge for .243 as far as I know. And the “Trick” to added a piece or two of scotch tape to a “go” gauge makes it a “no go” gauge.Does anyone by chance have a set of 243 go-no-go gauges they would be willing to loan?
That looks nice! I need an action wrench and am debating between the wheeler and the buffalo creek design.I picked up the action wrench that was briefly posted about a bit back, seems well made and has room for a layer of painters tape between it and the action. The barrel had already been off this action (all of mine have so no good test subjects) but one tug on a breaker bar it came loose without any slop in the setup so I expect it’d work well on a factory barrel. Heck of a lot easier to use than my diy wrench. I think hereinaz was looking into carrying them after testing one but he didn’t respond above so not sure on the status.

There’s also the modular action wrench that Buffalo creek offers. Much more robust than the aluminum oneI think for the removal of factory installed barrels I will stay with my Wheeler wrench. All of the force applied will be going to the square mounting hole and once it starts to get a little sloppy there gonna be a breaker bar and a body flying across the shop.

I’m going to donate a set to the tool share group, just need to talk to the right guy in the group to get it sent to the right place. That one is more interesting than the other one but you would still need a wrench or breaker bar tool to attach to their system to generate the needed torque.
I would be worried that the other tool would become a problem at least using my current method of smacking the handle of the Wheeler wrench with a 5lb dead blow hammer.
I might be able to add my torque multiplier to it.
Dam you, now I have to buy one and try it.
