One 200 grain Accubond out of a 300 win dropped the largest bodied Roosevelt bull I’ve ever seen. Right behind the shoulder at 250 yards and hit rib bone upon entry and exit with no bullet deflection or fragmentation. Figured on an elk that big, we would definitely find the bullet on the far side under the skin, but it was a clean pass through with major damage to his chest cavity.

Has anyone messed with the 196 hammer hunters for their 300 wsm. I’m about to start reloading and my first load development will be for my savage 110 ultralite in 300wsm. I have been shooting factory 180 tsx but that’s just what I could could get my hands on.

Will be using h4350 and 215 primers.

It has to be non lead because of CA.

I’m sure if you make a thread asking for load data with this bullet and cartridge you will receive usable data… personally in a wsm I prefer a 175lrx w/excess of 3100 mv

I am really leaning towards a 175 gr lead free option. Little more speed to help with expansion at distance.

Cutting edge 165 or 180 Lazers would be my first stop in a mono for 300wsm. A 165 lazer has the same BC as a 175 LRX.

I have shot multiple moose with a 300wsm and 180g accubond has been my choice. I would stay away from anything over 200g in a wsm because they eat up velocity and then you bullet won't perform. Imo I would use a 160g solid over a 200g lead core.

How much velocity do you need? 200gr ELDx are 2840 FPS out of my 23" xbolt (both factory ammo and my handloads). Could push it a little more with RL26 or in a platform that allows to load longer but that's plenty of snout from a light hunting rifle for me. And the further you get the BETTER a 200 grain ELDx is going to perform in comparison to a 160 mono that started at a faster speed.

I had not reloaded much at that time and I'm now much more informed!

I have a Sako Finnlite 300 WSM that I use 150 grain nosler partitions. I use the same bullet for everything that moves. I've shot numerous antelope, bighorn, mtn goat, dall sheep, bear, elk, deer, oryx, etc with the same round. I only load one shell because I am that confident when I shoot that the critter is dead!
