A new project for mountain hunting. Mainly sheep and mt goats. With other variables like powder- H1000 or RL26, and brass- Norma resized 270 wsm or Bertram 6.5 wsm head stamped, have these 2 bullets to choose from.

I find it easier to start with an ideal setup and just stop once it shoots “good enough” 😂 also its pretty overbore so don’t want to shoot out the barrel too quickly

Probably the 156 since it will have the case capacity to take advantage of the weight and BC.
I'm thinking about rebarreling a Tikka to 6.5 WSM next year, so I'm curious to see how this goes. Are you planning on N570 for powder?

I am a huge fan of the 147s, so that is how I voted. I use them in my 6.5-06AI and my 6.5 Sherman Max. I don't have any experience with the 156s, but I do agree with Castle Rock. Let the gun tell you what it likes.
Now, if it tells you it likes both, then go with the Murders because they are cheaper, easier to get, and they work.

The rifle has a 20” barrel and a suppressor- will lose some FPS. Not looking for the fastest load but will probably be in the 2900-3000 fps range. So far for powder I have on hand H1000 and RL26

I can't give you an honest opinion since I haven't used the 156s but I have used the 147s in my 6.5 SAUM extensively. I do have 400 156s sitting there, but I haven't found a need yet to use them. The 147s have worked as designed on numerous deer and a single elk. From 40 yards, on the elk, to far enough on coues deer. I do reserve my stash of RL26 for my SAUM, I shoot them at 3050 with a 26" barrel. I am sure the 156 will work well but I haven't had a need to try them yet. With sheep and goats having a smaller chest cavity, probably bigger then coues deer, I would see if the 147 work on your barrel. H1000 is also a good choice, just less velocity then RL26.
I have a 20" barrel SAUM in the works and will stick to the 147s unless the barrel doesn't like them. Then the 156 would be my next choice.
