Hoping to convert my old .308 T3 Superlite into something with a little more punch. Looking for a budget barrell if possible. Flexible on length and chambering if I find a great deal. Thanks in advance.

Without messing with your bolt face 30-06 & 280ai are my 2 suggestions. You may be able to rechamber your 308, but you will need the right mag.

Keep your standard bolt face and go with a 6.5x284. For cheap, you could pick up a 6.5cm takeoff barrel and have it rechambered. That is, if you’re not ocd about having the right stamp on the barrel lol.

Oh, well, I wouldn’t do it then. There is factory ammo available but it really shines when hand loaded.

Both PRC and wsm take magnum bolt face, don’t know if you can open a Tikka bolt face.

A 270 would be a good option for long action with 308 bolt face. Plenty of ammunition options and flat shooting. A 280 AI would be another option without needing to reload.
