Good hunting socks/sock combo

I have been using the Kenetrek OTC hunting socks for the past 7 years. The liner sock is heavier then I would have expected but the system works. No blisters. Warm when needed but my feet do not sweat to much. I change socks at least every day.

Gators will help keep your feet warm with un insulated boots. I don’t know how but I think it’s cause it traps heat maybe? I’ve had good luck with a good midweight sock with gators and uninsulated boots.

Agreed. First off real deal gore Tex boots on late season potential snow hunts is paramount. Uninsulated with really good quality well fitting tight gators if you’re gonna be hiking. Insulated boots are mostly for sitting still type hunts in a blind etc imho. Also common sense science here..Dry feet with good circulation/air gap=warm feet. Fit/size your boots with your intended sock/liner combo and make sure to let your toes have some space. (Just right) Sweating/too warm of feet hiking with insulated and too tight =bad circulation= very cold once you stop moving. Add some good gators and they will help keep your boots dry, an extra air gap for warm air, and your lower legs warmer, keeping your tootsies all warm n cozy down to the teens. Extra pair of dry socks AND insoles back at camp to rotate will keep you dialed for the duration. Foot care/boot care on late season hunts/snow is a full time gig;-)

A sock liner with darn tough merino is my go to. Weight of sock depends on what temp I’m in.

I still like the sock liner, but now use paca alpaca socks. Seek to do much better at keeping my sweaty feet warm and wicking the moisture away compared to my darn toughs.
