Origin/Solus prefit options

Just traded for a 24” 6.5CM Proof MTR, planning to rebarrel. Took the 6.5 off and have been looking into prefit options.

My ideal prefit is an 18” 6cm, but it seems proof is nearly 9 months out on orders, and only (for some reason) stocks 22-24” 6cm prefits.

options seem grim outside of finding a used one.

Anyone with any preferred MFG’s or insight on a hookup for prefits?

Lots of people make Prefits for Origin Actions. I ordered my new 7BC custom barrel from preferred barrel blanks on March 28th. It came in yesterday.

Northland Shooters Supply can hook you up as well. There are others.

I have found that a lot of standard pre fits are overly long. I have been told it is because competitive shooters, rather than hunters, buy most of the prefits sold.

If you want an inexpensive barrel while you wait for something custom to come in, the Origin action will take any Savage barrel. There are lots take offs out there.

Lots of builders will cut them for those actions. Preece precision in Ogden, west elk precision in Grand Junction are two I recommend. Preece always has proof blanks on the shelf, just have to get on his wait list which is usually 6-8 weeks.
