Thumb pain

I've never had this problem until this year.
Every time I quarter or butcher an animal my thumb on my non cutting hand is in intense pain at the base joint. It first started after quartering my elk in September and never healed 100%.
Quartered another elk yesterday and my thumb is down for the count.
Anybody ever have a similar type of issue?

Yup, on my cutting hand. Super annoying. Getting old sucks.
