Threading tikka fluted barrel?

Karl currently has my tikka putting a shoulder on it. Hoping to get in in the next 2 weeks. He said about a month and he received it on the first of this month. Have an ultra 7 I’m dying to thread on!
I didn’t want to mail mine but he was almost half price and no one local was only going to thread 5/8 with a shoulder.

Kampfeld does great work. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll also be glad you spent a bit extra to get the 5/8 shoulder done. It’s really. Ice not having to mess with little adapters.

You guys have me worried. As I am reading this the gunsmith called and said my T3X 308 lite is done. 1/2" thread.
Nothing to be worried about. This deal gets overanalyzed repeatedly.
I’ve got a bunch of light barreled rifles threaded to 1/2-28 I run cans on with zero issues.

Thanks PC356. I picked it up and it looks like enough metal to hold a can.

I just got mine back from Kampfeld and had him cut it JUST short of the flutes and add the shoulder, thread to 5/8x24. Looks fantastic and great communication.

I’ve had several Tikke superlites cut and threaded to 1/2 28 for suppressors and never had a problem. I’m actually in the process of getting 2 more done.

Lets see it!

Not the greatest pics but here ya go. He offered to cerakote it but didn't have the exact match on hand... I told him not to worry about it since I am terrible at deciding what I want and usually rattlecan the whole gun a few times a year anyway lol. He did bead blast it and it's a decent enough match for me. It'll be just fine for me when the can goes on it (if SilencerShop ever gets a Hydrogen in stock).

Does anyone know how the shoulder is built? Are they a washer that is epoxied on?

Why hasn’t a decent machine shop cut premade tapered shoulders for sale? Wouldn’t take much to make them at 3 standard barrel measurements. Red lock tite or Rockset is not magic

Thank you for the video.

What’d this work run ya if you don’t mind me asking?

Reached out to Karl but he said he’s too busy to accept new work and doesn’t know when he’ll be able to. Who else do yall recommend to cut into the flutes on a roughtech, thread 5/8x24 and put a shoulder in?

I recently had mine done by Fritz at Black Canyon Customs in Larkspur CO. Chopped it to 20” right into the flutes and threaded 5/8. Did great work, good communication, etc. Was $175 iirc.
