Threading “Thin Contour” or “Tikka Lite Contour”Barrels 5/8-24. Flutes Are Welcome!

I almost had mine talked into it, but he just said it's not smart. I'd be curious to see how much surface area you have on your can to shoulder.
This .223 gets a lot of rounds run thru it regularly. I’ll find out if it’s a problem sooner than later. I’m very confident in it that said.

Have their been any issues with those who have threaded their Tikka light barrels at 5/8 x 24? I've got a 308 barrel I want to cut down to 16.5", and I want it threaded to 5/8 x 24. I am nervous about doing 1/2 x 28 and putting an adapter on it due to tolerance stacking (I'm putting a muzzle device on it to host the can).

I’ve had a Tikka Lite 6.5 Creed cut at 16” and threaded 5/8 x 24, no issues at all.

Just run it at 5/8. It’s a non issue that some consider a bad idea in theory with nothing to actually support it.

How much shoulder was there for the suppressor to seal on? I'd be interested in seeing a photo if you have one.
Not a ton of shoulder, but enough to mount a TBAC CB brake. I realize that the shoulder isn’t visible with the brake, but it may give some idea. Ideally, a false shoulder would be employed, but this has been suitable for its use.

About how many rounds have you run through it with the suppressor and how's it working? I'm thinking about doing this myself.

Im pretty new to suppressors, only have 3 barrels to compare.

CTR tikka barrel factory direct threaded 5/8-24 is obviously good to go.

Lite barrel threaded 1/2-28 with a 5/8-24 adaptor has been fine but required roksetting the adaptor on. The smith that threadednit did so but it broke free and started loosening. I re-did and it has been good so far but until its been trouble free longer Im a bit suspicious of it.

Superlite fluted .308 barrel cut to 18” and direct-threaded with a shoulder is new but has been flawless. It is not based on anything objective, except from having the above adapter loosen on me, but I have more confidence in this since there’s nothing to loosen up. I really can’t tell anyone whether the shoulder is necessary or not, but it doesn’t seem to hurt anything, I don’t find it offensive looking, its not expensive and it doesn’t add any real weight, so I don’t see the point of not doing it if there’s any question. Kampfeld did this one.

I’ve been shooting a few tikkas that were cut, shouldered and threaded at 5/8x24 for awhile now with absolutely zero issues. In fact, I just realized that I had mine cut and threaded almost 4 years ago. Lots of hunts and shooting since then.
