Hey folks.

I’ve seen lots of posts and requests for being able to thread Tikka Lite profile barrels 5/8-24 for suppressors.

While the factory tikka lite barrels now come with an end flare and 5/8-24 threads, if you want to cut the barrels shorter you have the same issue as the original lite profile barrels.

Here are 3 different options for threading so that you don’t haven’t to use a 1/2-5/8 adapter…

The top barrel is a factory “Superlite” fluted Tikka lite profile barrel. This barrel was cut to 16”, re-crowned, threaded 5/8 and shoulder added.

The middle barrel is a McGowen “Tikka Lite” profile barrel that was cut to 16”, re-crowned, threaded 5-8 and shoulder added.

As another example, the bottom barrel is a Preferred Taperless 810 Contour Fluted. It was cut to 16” and recrowned and has plenty of meat to inset and thread 5/8.

They all come with a matching thread protector.

This is not an advertisement, I just wanted folks to have visibility to what can be done. I see so many “you can’t thread thin profile fluted barrel” posts so wanted to filter through the silliness.

Not taking away from the info you are providing but as an additional perspective: On my 6mm and lower calibers I just thread them 1/2" if they don't have the diameter needed and use an adapter. My thought basis on that is there are various 556/6mm cans that are offered in 1/2" so it just leaves me versatility.

How are you adding a shoulder? Cut threads longer and spin on a shoulder spacer?
Yeah the thread longer and thread on a piece that is loctite (or such) in place (likely turned hard against the end of the threads also) and then contoured and a square shoulder cut.

My 223 was cut to 16” and threaded 1/2 as well. Works great.

@pods8 (Rugged Stitching) Do you have someone local that does this work? I'm looking to get a factory 6.5 cm superlite cut down to 18" and threaded for a 5/8 can. Pretty sure I live in your neck of the woods. Thanks!

For that false shoulder work, locally folks like Fritz at Black Canyon Customs. He's down in Lonetree (or somewhere down there south of Den, @sndmn11 knows specifically I am sure).

I just haven't found it super convenient in terms of time to drive down there for work to be done so I tend to send my stuff to Kampfeld, he has good prices (which offsets shipping costs) and it saves me a couple 2hr round trips to drop off and pick up. The false shoulder threading service is $145 + return shipping. Or $100 if you have it threaded 1/2" and use an adapter, your preference.

Black Canyon Customs was at the top of my list to contact, but was hoping maybe you knew somebody on the North side of town. I'm about half way there with my drive to work so will probably just go that route. Appreciate it!
