There’s a million ways to make a reamer follow a hole. It’s kinda like 2 surgeons, the only thing they can agree on is that a third has no idea. End of the day, the proof is on the paper. Hope you end up with something that works for you. What is the most baffling to me is the feed problem, I read it is as a separate issue unless I missed something along the thread. What is going on there? I cannot fathom how a Tikka would get muffed in that regard.
Feed issue was related to the stock the gunsmith used. Nothing to do with the tikka action. He had plenty of dummy rounds but didn’t test anything. Put it together and sent it off. When I got it my semi-custom gun was a single shot.

Long story short, my issue has been solved!!!

I took it to a local gunsmith in Denver and he shined his flashlight into the chamber. He blurts out “oh crap!” He said he’d never see anything like it and was sure that the issue with the chamber was causing the click. The chamber was so rough that the brass was flowing into the rings then binding when I was trying to eject them. He hand reamed it and hand polished it. He said it wasn’t perfect but should take care of the issue.

He also said that the barrel wasn’t torqued onto the chamber! To the point he would have been able to remove it by hand!!!! He torqued it correctly and how the lettering on the barrel is barely visible over the edge of the stock and the muzzle brake that was indexed at 12 o’clock is at 1030. I feel fortunate that there wasn’t a catastrophic malfunction.

I reached out to him and of course he was no help. Lee, would love to hear your explanations about these issues and how this is acceptable.

You ever ask him if he chambers in house?;)

Kasey
Hahaha I started snooping around and I’m not the first one to find issues with his chambers. As someone said, if you’re going to cut corners a chamber is a good place to start.

I tried to tag him on here but he deleted his rokslide account.

Well research should be done before hand? Ask questions before hand, gotta know who is who before you give them a bunch of money. He wasnt chambering barrels in house when he was in Oregon for a long time.. what my smith said I use.. ironically named Casey as well hahah

Every shop makes mistakes eventually, it's how they handle the mistakes that makes me either a lifetime customer or a one time customer.

I had a very expensive custom rifle built by one of the best shops in the country several years ago. Once I received it, it was chambered in the wrong cartridge! They replaced the barrel and chambered it to the correct cartridge, they paid shipping both ways and had the work completed in 10 days. That's why I continue to use them.
yip, mistakes aren't avoidable, it's what happens after the mistake. good on that co.

He’s too good. He can’t be named or he’ll quickly become too busy to fix other gunsmiths mess ups!
Then PM him the name lol.. a good gunsmith wont have mess up anyways more than a handful of times.. seems a tad greedy to not want others to have a good experience as you did
