Yes.wouldn't it almost GUARANTEE that your meat is now tainted with cwd by cross contamination from surfaces and tools in the butchering process?
And it was taken to a processor...I assume every single animal taken to a processor has CWD so testing YOUR deer is moot. Your game has the prions because it's basically impossible to clean the equipment of them in a commercial grade facility. I say again, anybody in this thread that has their game processed has prions in their meat even if their deer tested negative. If your paranoid about eating cwd deer why hunt where it's found?

I don't understand the logic of a lot of people here. If you're gonna hunt units with prevalence of CWD, you should expect your deer to have it. It's not some anomaly. Stop hunting that unit.Mic drop... close the thread and sticky.
The unit I hunt mule deer in has about 4% prevalence. I should stop hunting that unit? And it was taken to a processor...I assume every single animal taken to a processor has CWD so testing YOUR deer is moot. You guys who are afraid to eat that meat need to stop hunting.... and also do some research around the million other diseases you can get but aren't likely to.
So your argument is all the smart people say so and if you don't agree with them your an idiot. That's a laughable statement. Find me a single biologist or researcher that has the opinion that you have and would eat the meat of a positive animal. You won't find one. Are you working on CWD full-time? No one who is working on CWD full time has the opinion that you should just eat it. Why? Are these PHDs, doctors and scientists not as smart as you? Or do you think maybe they understand prions little bit better than opinionated strangers on the internet?

When did I ever say that? That guy is telling people they should quit hunting because we dont want to eat lab confirmed sick animals. So your argument is all the smart people say so and if you don't agree with them your an idiot.
Fact remains that not a single person has contracted CWD from eating processed meat.
Of course that could change with the next very person to eat it and as such it's just too risky of a chance for you to personally take.

I am great friends with two biologists in Wyoming. I also was a wildlife and fisheries biology major at the university of wyoming. None of the three of us even bother testing. We have been eating antelope, deer, elk, and moose for the past 40 years with zero negative effects. I'm sure as hell not going to stop eating the delicious animals god put on this earth for us because there is a risk smaller than the odds of me hitting the power ball that I might be the first hunter to get sick. Go watch some news and huddle in a corner. That's a laughable statement. Find me a single biologist or researcher that has the opinion that you have and would eat the meat of a positive animal. If you eating at a public restaurant and especially a buffet, you probably getting at least a little of somebody’s poo poo and pee pee in your mouth. It's through direct contact and ingestion of bodily fluids. Urine, feces, etc.
According to the papers on the topic I just looked up, the only way vCJD, which is mad cow, has ever been spread from human to human has been through blood transfusions. The way that CJD, like the one that is prevalent in Paupa spreads is through eating of the nervous system tissue of the dead, infected human. Though one would assume a blood transfusion would do it there to, not that anyone's doing that.
There probably should be a pathway for the same urine or fecal transmission for human to human, but there are no documented cases of that happening with any forms of CJD. Loved ones living in the same house with infected family members, etc has never been an issue. We don't commonly intentionally come into contact with those fluids. I think I'd pass on someone pissing on a bowl of cheerios and eating it.
That's awesome and I fully support your decision. I havent once ascerted my opinion and told you that you should stop eating anything, but you told all of us that if we dont want to eat CWD meat than we should QUIT HUNTING. You have a couple buddies who work with CWD that dont test animals? Cool, every biologist in my field office has told me they would never eat a positive animal. Ive heard at this point dozens of specialists say it on podcasts and interviews. I allow the opinions on experts of any matter weigh onto my decision making.I am great friends with two biologists in Wyoming. Uh...What do you mean? Is this you? You have an appeal to authority post and then are saying you never said that? When did I ever say that? That guy is telling people they should quit hunting because we dont want to eat lab confirmed sick animals.
Go back and read this thread and any thread regarding CWD. Almost everyone who doesn't want to eat CWD positive meat is coming from a place thats just their choice.
The tone of almost every post where people are arguing we should just eat it is that WE who chose not to eat it are the idiots.

When did I call someone an idiot? When did I tell someone that their choice was wrong? That is simply me defending my position and explaining where my final position is coming from.Uh...What do you mean? Is this you? You have an appeal to authority post and then are saying you never said that?
