Sitka Core boxer briefs with the Polygene. That stuff is amazing.

I've been trying the Darn Tough, not sure I prefer them over the heaviest duty Under Armor Cold Gear socks.

Merino boxers and socks. End of story. For boxers I use sitka, Minus 33 & Smartwool NTS. Tried First Lite, but they fell apart faster than I could tolerate for the price.

For socks, I wear heavy weight merino. I like them so much o now wear them every day. Make sure they are at last 70% merino for best comfort. Don't get sucked in by low prices or slick marketing for lower merino content. If you can find the Team Realtree heavy weight ones that are 85% merino and stretchy around the arch, buY thennow; don't ask questions, just pull out your wallet and buy as many pair as you can afford.

Didn't read the whole thread but....

Exofficio boxer briefs- wear a pair in and only take a spare if planning 6+ days

Smartwool socks- wear a pair in and take 2 spare pair if planning 6+ days. Only a single spare pair of less than 6 days

For even up to 7 days, at most I wear one pair of boxers (FL Dobson Boxer Briefs or ExOfficio Boxers) and I wear REI or FL Wool socks over REI synthetic liners. Only "extra" I bring is a pair of liners.
