The Welfare Cattle Empire That Controls Your Public Lands: article

Where are they cut off from blm grazing land? I have never had any one tell me i cant hunt blm. Corner crossing seems to be a state problem are you pissed that nr cant hunt wilderness in wyoming?

The dog thing has no bearing on land access so start a different thread to complain about that
Dog screws up owners rights to land they've paid for.
Restrictions on hunters' access they should have rights to irritates me, but i personally have no desire to hunt Wyoming.

Ive literally seen that very thing.

Thats why i get so confused about the uproar for APRs differences of ideas about wildlife and conservation than a traditional land owner. When that land is taken out of agricultural production - the pitchforks must be sharpened and torches lit. If the same land had been purchased to do the same thing (managed for the benefit of wildlife and reducing ag output) by a billionare for exclusive hunting there'd be no complaints.

In fact - the same people who wish the apr couldnt own land - would be chomping at the bit to figure out how to carve out special NR LO hunting opportunities for a billionare effectively doing the same thing.
APR didn't get off to a very good start. I was on the region 7 CAC when APR was first starting up. FWP set up a presentation with APR so the CAC could learn more about APR. The APR spokesman ether didn't know his audience or didn't care. It was a presentation designed to separate environmentally concerned wealthy eastern elite from their money. It went over like a lead balloon with salt of the earth ranchers scraping out a living in eastern Montana. It was a long presentation and roughly 20 years ago so I can not remember everyting, but let me sumerize in a few sentances from a ranchers point of view.
We are APR , we are the smart people and we are going to save the prairie. The ranchers that live there now are destroying it because they are uneducated hayseed hicks that don't know any better. We are going to show them how superior our ideas are and in time they will understand this and change their ways too.
I am pretty easy going and by the time the APR spokesman was done, I was kind of hot. You can just imagine how pissed off the more hot headed ranchers were. That spread like wildfire in the ranching circles. No rancher that saw that is ever going to fully trust APR.
To there credit, they have changed there message for the better, maybe they have even changed there stripes.

I'd like to see the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson money pulled from Wyoming until they allow unrestricted wilderness access.

You can keep it, but I should not be financing it.

So side by sides should be able to drive all over since it’s unrestricted. I’m cool with that

California allows the use of dogs for deer

People who have dogs and dog hunters running all over land deeded to others because the cops, wardens and legislators are scared of the dog hunters

Gents, this is completely wrong. There's no hunting of deer with dogs in California, or any other big game for that matter. The only exception I'm aware of is targeted depredation of problematic cougars, under specific permits.

Deer hunting with dogs is legal. It's not legal to run any other big game species since 1221 passed. You're allowed one dog per tag unless that has changed since 2021.

I was wrong. Thought it was all banned in the 1990s along with cougar hunting. Just looked up the regs, and for deer it's legal except during archery season. That's just about the biggest WTF surprise out of CA I've ever seen. I'd have been less surprised to find out you were required to declare an alternate pronoun and donate to Earth First in order to hunt.

You can't have a side by side in the wilderness....duh.

An American who cannot recreate on their land that they pay taxes on should lose the subsidies that are supposed to support the opportunity for all.

Wilderness is wild.....and public.

So you want restrictions that you like . You got the recreate part wrong though you can go recreate till your little heart is content you just can’t hunt.

What is the tax rate on this land we all pay taxes on but can't recreate on? Does private land that you pay taxes on and hold the deed to not have legal restriction on what you can do?

And I'm fine with that, i just don't want to subsidize your private hunt club. You keep the rights, we'll keep the money.
