200gr Accubond out of my 300rum with MV of 3130fps. It was recovered from my daughter’s first bull (Roosevelt) after breaking the onside shoulder and going through the offside scapula, coming to rest against the hide. The shot was 450yds.

147 ELD-Ms out of a 6.5 CM on a cow elk. Impact velocity around 2300 FPS. One blew through both front shoulders and was caught in the offside hide. The other just caught the edge of the onside shoulder and came to rest in the hide behind the offside shoulder. D52E083F-23FE-49E7-A573-D1D24F476E7C.jpegE166B6AF-359D-4138-A23A-2EE5784AA17E.jpeg

On the left, Barnes LRX 175, 30cal. Recovered after a 325 yard shot on my Colorado mule deer from earlier this month. Impact velocity should have been about 2800fps. It did shed a petal, but it’s still 162 grains and some change. On the right, a jacket from somebody else’s bullet from the same deer. Can’t remember exactly where I pulled the jacket from, but it was encased in fat. One of his shanks on the rear legs had been broken and was healed up into a big ball. Figure this was at least from last year if not the year before. It only weighs about 53grains.

I have the remains of a 35cal 225 grain Accubond recovered from a moose laying around somewhere as well. I’ll find it and post it when I do.

Those ELDMs seem to have performed well! Those look very similar to the 2 143 6.5mm eldx that I found in two mule deer this year. Similar impact velocity

35 Whelen AI, both recovered bullets from elk.

200 and 250 Barnes original X. Unfired, expanded and 200 TTSX on the right for length comparison. I have been using the 200 TTSX for many years since beginning with the original X's, allows 2925 FPS and a nicely flat trajectory.

200 gr X (2850 fps MV) went in at the shoulder at 175 yds on a quartering toward shot. Found under the hide in the opposite rear quarter when skinning. 250 X (2580 fps MV) went in behind the ribs quartering away at about 60 yards, traversed more or less diagonally, found in the neck meat upon skinning. Frontal shot shows identical expansion at .746". Notice the petals have a "twist" to them in the side view, from bullet spin deflection.2012-09-26_21-37-55_733.jpg2012-09-26_21-35-41_572.jpg

Here is an odd one. 50 grain Hornady SP out of a 221 Fireball moving about 3100. Shot was maybe 90 yards. Went in just in front of the shoulder. Blew the spine to bits, went into offside shoulder and almost exited. Weighs 24.5 grains.

Both those are excellent results with the 280 AI and the 325 WSM. Accubond has amazing expansion for the distance of the shot. TTSX has amazing retention for the short distance of that shot. It's what I expect and get with X bullets as well.

I've only recovered two bullets from game. Both Hornady bullets from a .270Win.

1) ~40yard shot on a yearling doe quartering hard away. 140gr SST. Bullet entered about the middle of her body and I found the jacket in the off shoulder while processing.

2) Bull Caribou, ~125 yards broadside while he was getting out of Dodge. 145gr ELD-X. Hit him high shoulder and he dropped. Jacket and a small bit of core is all that was left. I wasn't impressed.

I'll be switching to whatever is most accurate between the Accubond and Barnes LRX.
