On the podcast yesterday, the guys mentioned that they compared the Reaper against several other cans. Among those was an AB Raptor 8. What configuration did they use for the AB Raptor 8? I’m assuming flush mount? Any chance someone can put up a relative number between the AB Raptor 8 with and without 3” reflex against the Scythe, Reaper, Ultra 7, Nomad, etc?

I guess I take for granted how many SOT's I have to choose from within 20 miles of my house. Transfer fees are minimal. Is there not many SOT's near you?

There’s a few of them but they are mostly old guys doing it out of their houses. The one I normally use is an hour drive.

Listened to the reaper and silencer shop episodes in the truck today. I like Cliffs style. Comes off humble and understated.

There was a lot of talk about decibels and I don’t recall anything being brought up about shooters ear vs mil spec left?

Seemed like SS guy didn’t want to talk about scythe failures

The 95 smk is proving to be pretty good as a hunting bullet for me so far. Very soft with a major cavity in the tip. Jackets very thin too. Some smks appear to have virtually no cavity but when i sectioned one i figured they were worth a try in the 22 creed since I have velocity on my side.

SMK is highly effective for bang flop, but too soft for my liking. At some point you might find a piece of the copper jacket stuck on the entrance hole. I found lead chunks very far from the path of travel. Again effective but messy

From what i have seen smk's have jacket thickness similar to berger hybrids but seemingly harder material.

Harder can mean more brittle. In my experience the projectile is more explosive than a berger atleast in the 95 224 variant. With a very short neck length.

You heard correctly that the US/UM test included a careful test of 7mm Mag through the OG 6.5. They carefully checked with a bore guide before attempting it. What you may not have heard is that this is outside the intended use for the can and could go badly. That’s one of those that should come with a “don’t do this at home!” warnings.
