FFS, read what I wrote. Repeatedly. It's absolutely mystifying that anyone could actually read the actual words, and write what you just did.

I don't GAS what you or anyone wears. My initial comment was just to ensure the OP knew that those are not meaningless patterns. The increasing detail was meant to clarify the specifics on how it works for those it wasn't quite clear for.

BTW, you literally just flew the vet bro flag, in response to being told it's vet bro flag, because you seem to be bothered that anyone might think it's a vet bro flag.

Everything means something to someone. But you are beating the dead horse that this is like wearing tribal gang colors. Your words, not mine. I’m more concerning about a grizzly gnawing on my ass than I am about what message I’m sending.

I was trying to make light of the fact that you might be overthinking your wardrobe choices a little too much. I literally give as little thought to what “flags I’m flying” as I possibly can. I have enough worthwhile things to spend my mental energy on.

Which is ironic, considering that I have spent time in this thread…. Ah crap. I’m going to fence out and go to bed. And I’m flying a flag…. Trying to send an affiliation message to my wife.

I was trying to make light of the fact that you might be overthinking your wardrobe choices a little too much.

Okay, once more for the kids on the short bus: everyone is hardwired for this behavior, to the point we don't realize we do it - but at a glance you know what tribes someone's claiming affiliation with.

It's subconscious, and semi-conscious.

It's also a 100% conscious and deliberate survival skill for those whose lives have been on the line undercover or overseas, requiring the ability to absolutely disappear into the background. Or to build rapport.

Every single item of clothing, your shoes, your watch, jewelry, haircut - even your godd*mned gait and body gestures will fly a tribal flag.

It's not about being judgy - it's about being aware of the messages you're sending and how they're being received. That is all.

It's also absolutely obvious to anyone thinking about it for a second.

Not sure why this is bothering you so bad, but the only other times I've seen such a severe reaction have been in instructing the supremely non self-aware who weren't filtered out early enough, who didn't realize they were flying their flags so hard. Especially for tribes they didn't earn the right to claim belonging in.

Ok. Well, you got me. I’m the one who is over reacting and letting this bother me. Totally guilty. It’s eerie, because it’s just so damn spot on, I checked my house to see if you have hidden cameras or something. All I found were my OnlyFans cameras, so you must have seen my gait and flip flops and you were able to make an exceptionally accurate judgement about the signals I was sending.
