I know a lot of granola types taking up hunting use the word "harvest".

It always made me imagine accidentally mowing fawns in a hay field, or shooting an obese whitetail at a predetermined time under a corn feeder on Bubba's Big Buck Tejas Drive-Thru roadside attraction.

I just say "shot", honestly it has better connotations.
if i ever say harvest seriously in reference to killing something, i want to be held accountable... if i do, i will film myself stun gun myself in the neck, or having my wife kick me in the nuts from behind... i'll deserve it

one of the most dreadful things i hear are guys saying they called in x number of bulls but none were big enough for what he was after... then every 8 or 10yrs said person kills a small bull and says it was a "meat bull" freezer was getting low. in real life, they never had an opportunity to kill any of those hundreds of bulls they "called in"

or "we called in 17 bulls but didn't kill any" what do people consider a called in bull? getting one to answer? hearing a bull pipe off on it's own? hearing another hunter bugle at them?

"out west" is pretty annoying.

I'm planning a trip "out west", how much sitka do I need to wear?

I live "out west", and you sound like a dork. Sorry 85% of you. Although I do appreciate vagueness

Also, "going deep". Dude, Im heading out west, goin deep, going in light coming out heavy

Haha, the vast majority of the west is way east of me, so I can’t really use that pet peeve of yours (which I agree with you)

Another reference to the west is in regard to long range archery shots… “you have to shoot x yardage if you hunt out west”

If you go far enough west, you don’t have to shoot very far, haha… I can prove it. With statistics on my side, I predict I will kill a bull this year inside 20 yds
