Sounds like Vortex’s new military optic isn’t holding up as expected.

From the article- "The XM7 with mounted XM157 demonstrated a low probability of completing one 72-hour wartime mission without incurring a critical failure,"

It doesn’t list specifically what the issue is, but hey, at least they have a warranty.

Yea I saw that article. I haven’t talked to anyone about it. Sad that testing didn’t reveal the issues. 72 hours is not a very long mission. With the new round and smaller magazine capacity they’re going to have to rely less on suppressive fire and make every shot count.

As someone who owns 2 mcx virtus and a spear in 308, this whole rollout has been a debacle, both the optic and the gun are not performing well out the gate

Battery life in the civilian version sucks. Me thinks it is that.

Batteries are whole other weight factor besides ammo, water, food when you think of comms, nods, plb, and weapon system

I didn’t even read the article. But I can’t imagine going to war and taking along anything that said Vortex on it.

If BigK was still in business, that’s where one should find Vortex products.
