I've always got a laugh out of the " I shot a Cull Buck". To me, that just means your either don't put in the time or just aren't a very good hunter....

Most is spot on. Some of us do fill the freezer though. I haven't bought any beef in over 15 years. We eat elk, deer and antelope for our red meat exclusively. It is getting tougher to do every year but thankfully doe tags are still cheap. If you are a good hunter, process your own meat, and don't buy the latest fad every year it really doesn't cost much more than store bought meat.
i am the same and agree, but to the article, i still think it's on point....... i think it's always just a given that the meat is going in the freezer, but right now it's trending to make that point clear... to me, it's more like "no ****"

I used to watch BHOD the early years….but they got into the stupid sayings this guy talks about, it’s very annoying and clearly posing. Thanks for this thread.

I know a lot of granola types taking up hunting use the word "harvest".

It always made me imagine accidentally mowing fawns in a hay field, or shooting an obese whitetail at a predetermined time under a corn feeder on Bubba's Big Buck Tejas Drive-Thru roadside attraction.

I just say "shot", honestly it has better connotations.

That’s article is hilarious! Although I will admit to occasionally using the phrase “filling the freezer” when I’m trying to justify to my wife the time/money spent hunting.

My wife tells me that I sound like a hair lipped cajun from Chinatown when I get to jawwing with the boys.

We have our own language and dialect.

I am sure I'd get banned if I used some of the nicknames for guys we know.

A couple of mine.

"I'm not looking for your honey hole" bullshit, yes you are.

" My wife is in school, my kids are young I don't have alot of time" Bullshit, I ran my truck (several) into the ground looking my spots, spent many nights away from family, toughen up, turn the key!

" I'm trying to find a place to take my young son " Bullshit, translation = Handout!

"This is my dads last hunt, any help would be appreciated" Bullshit, translation = Worse than those beggars coming up to you in a 3rd world country with a kid with no arm.

I agree with everything said in that article. I’ll admit it, I go hunting to kill the animal I have a tag for. Yes, I like to get outdoors, find animals in their own habitat and try to outsmart them. If I didn’t want to kill an animal then why hunt? Someone can enjoy the outdoors and match wits with their prey by using a camera just as easy. I hunt because I like to and I want to kill something to eat. I also kill a lot of animals standing there in a box. Doesn’t phase me one bit. It’s all food to me.

Becoming a big fan of his articles. Yes, I own a combine. Never “harvested “ a deer though. There was this skunk one time while cutting wheat.......wow that stunk for awhile
