NZ is definitely high up on the list for the chamois and Tahr combo. I'm hoping to combo hunt several species on each of these trips to make the most of each experience.

There are wild free ranging mouflon all over mainland Europe. Unless there are wolves. Then there are not any anymore.

A class 3 ibex might be had for $5000. This would be a 2-4 year old. But you would need to been a waiting list for a couple of years.

Incorrect.

Romania brown bears are deceiving. If you shoot a bear over a certain size you pay for the bear plus a fee and don't get to bring it home. They don't even know if they will have a season in 2025.

Croatia and Estonia have cheap bear hunts.

Romania does have the biggest chamois, good stags, good roe deer and good wild boar.

It depends though. The vast majority of alpine ibex are in a high fence.

Here in Europe there are about 30 booking agents.

It is my own opinion that WTA charges a heavy American tax, either knowingly or their agent is doing it.

Anyone selling you an Alpine Ibex in USA is going to be adding quite a bit of American tax. WTA's is huge.

There are Bezoars in top areas of Turkey that will be similar prices. Around $25,000. Everyone is paying the same amount.

Gredos ibex are getting crazy expensive. I would do that if you need to get this done very soon.

I was able to completed my Capra 20 last year with a Balkan chamois in Croatia. Romania was good to me last month where I added a Carpathia chamois. It was a different kinda chami hunt being in the forest finding and evaluating quality. I sure have grown to like hunting chamois as the price is reasonable for most of the varieties.
I hunted ibex in Spain 3 times and only need a Rhonda to have all 4 but I'll be sure to hunt both chamois when I return. Headed to Tigik next month with a buddy and hope to add a Pamir ibex to my list.
The Kri Kri hybred doesnt count for the 12 but it did for the 20.
I'd also look at the tur hunts in Russia. They are great mountain hunts. They count on both the Capra & Ovis lists

So i've been giving this more thought in recent weeks and am starting to put together a hunt plan for the next 5 years.

With Canada Mountain Goat on deck I think I should be able to follow up with the following over the course of the next 5 years.

Trip 1: Spain - Beceite & South Eastern Ibex. I likely won't end up hunting all 4 here and from other discussions on this forum, the above two species are the two to have. I may be able to add in a chamois to this trip as well.

Trip 2: New Zealand - Tahr and Chamois. This sounds like it could be a real challenging mountain hunt that I'd like to pursue while I am still young and able.

Trip 3: Return to Europe: Either Austria or Romania. Alpine Chamois or Carpathian Chamois, maybe throw in a Mouflon.

Trip 4: Turkey - Bezoar Ibex. Would also consider Mongolia for Altai/Gobi Ibex if they present a better value and bigger adventure.

Trip 5: Kyrgyzstan - Mid-Asian Ibex. This would likely be the biggest adventure of them all in the most foreign land.

Are there any other Chamois or additional add on species that could be included in #4 or #5?

Assuming these were all successful, that would put me around 9 species or a 3/4 slam.

My 2 cents as I've been in your shoes.
Spain: definitely hunt the chamois. They are more affordable than the Ibex and a better hunt in my opinion. Or hunt a Gredos or Bicetie ibex & the two chamois.
New Zealand: Absolutely! Just be sure to pic a outfitter that will foot/tent hunt you. Not from a heli. youd only be disappointed. Consider adding an aropawa and or feral goat. I know they arent the sexiest animals but 15 years later you are wishing you did.
Turkey: Bezoar & now the coastal ibex are great trips but have increased in price with reduced tags. The bezoar is a must in most capra collections. I think a guy could find one in mid 40 inch range for $14-16,000. The Anatolian chamois there is pricy compared to others in Europe but a great hunt.
Kyrg: Yes! just do it. Great true mountain hunting.
Tyjik: Could do 2 ibex, Pamir & Bukharan. The Bukharan is said to be a ball buster & the Pamir not so much. I'll let you know how they go in a couple of weeks.
Russia: eastern(dagestan), mid & western tur along with the Sayan ibex & caucasan chamois. (My early mentor told me you cant claim to be a true mountain hunter until you've killed a tur. I've been on 9 hunts and killed 5 for my self. Tur also count on both Ovis & capa lists. 2 for 1 hunt) Great country to hunt with being able to combine a tur & chamois or two tur into 1 trip.
Azerbajan: still closed for now but great tur #s and great trophy quality. Just be careful of discount or cheap hunts. It's not cheap if you dont get an animal.
Mongolia: Absolutely! Amazing adventure and a must do for one of the ibex. The altai is quite a bit larger than the gobi but both can be great hunts.
If you can tell I love to talk about international hunting and like to see people go experience it.

So just trying to envision a plan here for the 12, I could do.

1. North American Mountain Goat (Canada)
2. Beceite ibex (Spain)
3. Gredos ibex (Spain)
4. Southeastern Ibex (Spain)
5. Ronda Ibex (Spain)
6. Cantabrian Chamois (Spain)
7. Pyrenees Chamois (Spain)
8. Himalayan/Alpine Tahr (Bulgaria)
9. NZ Himalayan Tahr (New Zealand)
10. NZ Chamois (New Zealand)
11. Bezoar Ibex (Turkey)
12. Mid-Asian Ibex (Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, or Kyrgyzstan).

I probably wouldn't hunt half the list in Spain so would likely swap out one or both of the chamois for Chamois or KriKri Ibex in Croatia or an Alpine Ibex in Austria. One of the Tur's could also be an option.

Of course a Markhor would be the pinnacle to any Capra hunt but that's out of my price range.B
