I didn’t know they moved to Utah. Where at?They did move to Utah, but I still chose to use them since I have had good luck in the past.
@wy_will - is your thumbs up a "yes" to my question or just that you like my post? Was it noted recently on an S2H podcast that the 6UM is performing better with a 1:7 rather than a 1:7.5 twist?
If so, what was the criteria around that? Was it for both the UM30 and UM40 versions, only for DTAKs, etc? @Ryan Avery
I don’t get how this is true when Ryan is in this very thread talking about blowing up a can with a 1-7 twist. I guess I would need to hear the full context.@wy_will - is your thumbs up a "yes" to my question or just that you like my post?
I dont listen to every episode but i sure wouldn't spec a 7 twist for a UM and kind of doubt Avery would. Maybe if you're going really short it wouldn't be much of a problem. Was it noted recently on an S2H podcast that the 6UM is performing better with a 1:7 rather than a 1:7.5 twist?

I just liked your question. I have barrels on order and I went with 1:7.5, but it might not be too late for me to change to 1:7 if that is working better.@wy_will - is your thumbs up a "yes" to my question or just that you like my post?
I certainly could have mis-heard. Not trying to start anything and was only looking for clarification.I dont listen to every episode but i sure wouldn't spec a 7 twist for a UM and kind of doubt Avery would. Maybe if you're going really short it wouldn't be much of a problem.
@Ryan Avery what if we are still shooting DTACs?Of the eight 6UMs I’ve built, the two most accurate had 7 twist barrels. Still, I wouldn’t think twice about using a 7.5T, since all of them have worked well for my hunting.
When I spoke with Sierra about using 116s in a 6UM, their two ballistics experts said a 7.5 twist would work, but they still preferred a 7T, and the 116 would handle it.
Most of this has been with DTACs. I've only shot about 200 116s, all of them have been with a 7.5 twist. I think people are way too spun up about 7 or 7.5 twist@Ryan Avery what if we are still shooting DTACs?
Appreciate the clarification. I don’t know if the jackets/ability to take rotational force between DTACs and TMKs were different. All of this has been with DTACs. I think people are way too spun up about 7 or 7.5 twist
A 7.5 is gonna work with the DTACs or TMKs
So what you’re sayin is, If you ordered a new barrel today, you would select a 7 twist? GotchaOf the eight 6UMs I’ve built, the two most accurate had 7 twist barrels. Still, I wouldn’t think twice about using a 7.5T, since all of them have worked well for my hunting.

Maybe ask in the reloading thread that is 12 pagesThere are 115 pages and I prefer to not read them all. Any instances of anybody using the 6UM, or any 6 saum version, with a McGuire Copper Rose?
Also that fancy search feature.....There are 115 pages and I prefer to not read them all. Any instances of anybody using the 6UM, or any 6 saum version, with a McGuire Copper Rose?
