The 6UM

It's so barrel-dependent

I have an 18" 6UM30 doing 3125 with 115s

Does barrel brand matter for speed? Or is it just individual barrels? Wanting a 16” barrel that’ll do 3k with 108s or 115s. Open to recommendations

FWIW The most consistent barrels I’ve seen have been Bartlein and Krieger cut rifled barrels
Only had a few Brux cut rifled and they all hammered

To add to that, what is the most consistently tight-grouping steel barrel you’ve shot?

I know the Benchmark that you sold to @TradLife406 is an absolute hammer!

If I sell a rifle, I can promise it hammers.:) If a rifle sucks, I will rebarrel it—no need for more inaccurate rifles in the world.

I don't think you can go wrong with any known barrel company. I really like Benchmark, but damn, that wait time is rough. One very underrated barrel company is Pacnor. I have two right now that really stack them.

It’s kinda funny, because Pac-Nor doesn’t get mentioned much at all.

Just gotta work on the n!gga holding the rifle

Couple of questions as I'm diving back in to mine...
Has anyone tested H1000 in 20" and shorter barrels? Looking back at my 24" data, it looks like 3100 should be fairly reasonable for a 115 at 20". Maybe even 18"?
Anyone have a reamer they want to lend/rent out before I buy one? I'll end up buying one to have on hand long term, but I'm trying to get this one recut before a Thanksgiving coues hunt. The lathe is almost all set up as of this morning, going to start some chop and thread projects hopefully by this weekend.

Anyone have a 6UM 40* reamer and gauges they would be willing to rent out? I’ve got a barrel on order from PBB chambered in 6.5 PRC but in the interim have become really interested in building a fast 6mm. The 6 UM seems to be the answer there but instead of having to cancel my order, if I can get a reamer they would do it for me and I’d like to go that route if possible.

There was another post in the 6UM Reloading thread asking the same question
Maybe you 2 could partner up on this reamer and gauge. I bet you can flip them once done for a minor “rental” fee

Someone probably does. As another great option, PBB can chamber it in 6 PRC, or the 6 NSI (it’s a 6 PRC with a customized reamer for optimal dimensions)
