what ace barrel contour should I go with on a tikka 20 barrel running suppressed? Tikka sporter, or sp1? Is there a big difference?
What is everyone else running?

I went with a spiral fluted #3. Thought about going sporter with a flared muzzle for 5/8-24 threads but liked the look of the fluted #3 better and I don’t mind the added weight for this gun.

You don’t have to run 5/8x24 to run a suppressor
I've talked to ACE about running the taperless contours started by preferred. The 750 contour is very easy to get sub 3#, without fluting. Even lighter fluted and accepts 5/8x24. I feel it's a good compromise. If 9/16x24 is your thread desire, then a Sp1 will work. Ace has nothing on their contour chart about a Tikka contour.

From Kurt on testing the new 6UM40* brass

"The new brass shoots very well. Here is the data for 12 shots with 66 grn, along with the 12 shot group they printed.

The ADG brass was 12 fps slower than the 6.5 Saum brass with 66 grn, but it had a lower STD DEV. 6UM brass was 10, 6.5 Saum brass was 13. The 6UM brass would have likely been lower, I had one shot that registered 14 fps higher and skewed the curve a bit. Still very good though.

This is the first time I put it on the Chrono with the new barrel. 3410 ave with Saum brass, 3398 with ADG. Interestingly, when proofing velocity at 800 and 1000 yds, I need to change velocity in Shooter to 3440 to get the correct drop/impact. So apparently the BC on the 115 is higher than advertised."

Have anyone used the 115 bergers for hunting? Just sent my action to UM and trying to stock up on components. Seems like the dtacs are the go to.

115 Bergers kill very well, shoot lights out too. Bearing surface is short for the depth of the standard 6um. That throat was designed to have the freebore to jump a dtac 70k and not be losing powder space. For comparison that's about the same freebore as 300 norma and 230 Bergers, a 28nos with 195s. 160-180 freebore is about perfect for the 115 vld.

Awesome, thanks. I’ve always like the performance of bergers but have heard much in this thread. Just seeing what people have seen on terminal. I’ll give them a shot.
What’s worked out for powder and charge. Hoping to take it to Idaho bear hunting in the spring but based on how lead times look I may be short timed on load development.

I’ve shot 15-20 critters with 115 hunters from 40-850 yards out of a 6creed right at 3000fps. I’ve been perfectly satisfied with performance but I’m also very anal about checking that my tips are open and I’m a center of lungs shooter as a general rule. Definitely not saying they won’t punch through a shoulder that’s just not what I’ve done with them for the most part.

Good to know, exactly what I was looking for. I also prefer a center punch on the lungs, especially with archery. I’ve only been let down by that once and it was certainly my own fault.

The Barnes 112gr MatchBurners is a better VLD style bullet than the 115gr Berger.

Which begs the question, why did they go completely steel/alloy vs just a hybrid case head. Cost? Is the Sig hybrid design patented?
It could be a neck tension thing. Maybe that factors in to their powder and velocity combination. I saw on a video that their bullets are pretty hard to pull....
