The 6UM

I’ve been curious about this too. I originally had an 18” 8tw barrel on order but ended up switching to a 7.5. I’m strongly considering running the eldm’s but don’t think they are going to hold up. I just need to pony up and buy a barrels worth of dtacs.

I have 500 I’d sell

For what it’s worth I’m shooting them (108 Eldm) out of an 18’ 7.5 twist and they’re doing great so far. I’m not stepping on it super hard, I think I’m at 3225fps and I have maybe 275-300 rounds down the tube.

anyone loading ammo (commercially or custom) for the 6um? I assume unknown munitions is but I don’t see it on their site.
This is not a chambering for the non hand loader unless you have solid ties to someone in the ammo industry. Or you source all components and pay someone to assemble. Expect $4 a round.......

N570? How many grains?

Forty-nine soldiers are prepared to go wound some elk and nilgai.

Actually 43 grains of H1000. This barrel hit pressure way early with everything for some reason. The last one my load was 67 grains of N570 with the 115 dtacs 30 thou off. I threw together ten loaded with 64 grains when I put this barrel on just to have a few safe rounds to run through and it started blowing primers. I ended up backing down to 62 and being not that far off the velocity from my first barrel. I think I was about 3-4 grains less H1000 in this barrel compared to the first one to be at the same speeds as well.

From Kurt

“My son shot a buck with the 6 UM, 125 yards quartering away. Went in a few ribs back of the shoulder, found the base of the jacket nested under the offside shoulder, no exit. Typical lung damage, appeared to go through the top of the heart, found the bottom half of the heart free floating in the cavity.

It is a little tough to tell what is going with the bullet on inside on any of these animals, there has been so much damage it ends up being a coagulated mess, quite destructive.

The interesting part to me is how little blood shot meat I have ended up with, even through shoulders , especially entrance.”
