The 22 creedmoor thread

Buddy sent me a pic of a stud bull he shot with the 85.5. Said it went down in five seconds. Didn't mention the shot distance.

Yeah the 77's aren't very impressive on the dope card.

Just ordered up some 90 VLDs...

Anyone have experience with these on game?

I know the tmk and eldms have a solid track record.

Is there even a difference between hunting and target Bergers? I think Berger said there's a jacket thickness difference. Listening to a Form podcast the other day and I believe he said it's just the label.
I really liked how Bergers did for me on whitetails last year. Sample size of about eight. Using 6.5's 140 and 156.
Only had one doe with the 156 run off without any blood. 2-3" behind the shoulder at about 250 yards. Went about 100 yards and fell over. Everything else either dropped instantly or one doe went for a death run but left a ton of blood.

I don’t have a ton of Berger experience but they act like Berger describes ime. 2-4” of zero upset, which I don’t prefer for deer.

Target bergers are supposedly thicker jacketed.

I think you will see much more damage toward the entrance side with the eld and tmk. The tmk seem to almost upset immediately, I have often had entrance wounds that were fairly large if none was hit.

Either way, you will not be disappointed in what a tmk does at 3k fps. I actually went away from them because they do border line too much damage. If I’m going to use a 22 cal I like what they do at 223 speeds.

Target is thicker, hunting is thinner. That said how they act and work in game still seems to be bullet specific dependent not just in jacket thickness. Meaning: Just because it’s a target bullet with a thick jacket doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t work in game, vice versa for a thin jacketed hunting bullet.

Worked up to 43gr of N555 and couldn't see or feel any signs of pressure, which shocked me, but with an 80eldx or a 77TMK it averaged over 3200 out of my 18" barrel. I'm going to retest it again tomorrow for verification. If this holds true, then I think I have found my new favorite powder.

Doubled check my data from yesterday and had 1 faint ejector mark with the H4350 but nothing with the N555 loads. I think I’ll load 20 of the N555 42.5gr and see how it groups.

Anyone play with r23? I've got some. I see I can get more if need be. 22 and 26 got me good speed. I'd almost try another 10 shot feeler with both. But kinda pointless if I can't buy more.
I only see r22 and 26 listed by Hornady with the 88's.
Why isn't H4350 in any manuals? Seems popular.
