The 22 creedmoor thread

Anyone ever shoot the 75 ELDMs out of the 22 creedmoor ? Thinking about trying them for coyotes. Be little more speed and more explosive for coyotes

Just ordered 100 77gr TMKs, 100 pcs of Peterson SRP brass, primers, jug of H4350, an a whole bunch of other stuff. I've never reloaded. Recommended starting point on powder charge?

I've been shooting the Cooper Creek 75gr ELDM load in mine for a year now. Taken a pile of deer, hogs, and yotes with it. Has performed exceptionally well.

I have a buddy that shoots the 75 ELDM out of a 22-243 middlestead at 3500FPS. He loves it, claims every male coyote has blood coming out their dick. He says he never seen that with his old 220 swift shooting 52’s.

My advice is to start cautiously at recommended factory loads and not data from this thread. There are some loads on here that will cause out of spec pressure that could be out right dangerous in some rifles.

You might look at Hornady for starting loads and forget sierras info. They don’t list h4350 and have the standard 22-250 listed above the 22-250AI in charge weight and velocity. They have some wires crossed somewhere lol.

This is not data for the 22creed but I shot out a 22-250AI with 42gr of ah4350 and a 75amax. When my 22creed barrel gets in I’ll probably load one shot each from 38gr up to 41.5 in .3 increments. Typically you’ll see a flat spot in your velocity with two or sometimes three different charges. Those shots typically land pretty close together too. Then I’d take a charge kinda in the middle of the flat spot and load 10 and shoot them for accuracy and velocity spread. Cats skin many different ways. I’m not saying that’s the best way but it’s a way.

With what we know as Rokslides and followers of Form. Is there a reason to go to a 6 Creed over a 22? For deer and maybe an occasional cow elk?

If you want to hunt big game in all 50 states, you currently need a 6mm.

88gr ELDM's...

PBB (group buy barrel) vs PVA (1:7 .750 taperless) both 18"

41.5gr N565 at 2.680 2750fps…

Whats up with the horizontal stringing? It's muggy and wind is >1mph from the direction I'm shooting. Looks like the PBB is 1.5 MOA with a zero adjustment (it's set to the 77 SMK and filling in the dot). What you're seeing with the PVA (2.25 MOA) is representative of the other 80 shots with this barrel and that load. I only bought one box of 88's.

6 creed has better factory ammo choices, 22 creed has 2 from hornady.

So basically for a Montana (no minimum caliber) guy who reloads the 22 is probably better.
How's the wind drift between the two? Guess that would be the only difference maybe?
Just thinking a 22 would be perfect for my kids.

@mxgsfmdpx has both. I’ve seen him state the 22 being better on drop and wind drift out to 7ish? He can confirm

Here’s some info from another thread I posted with real world factory ammo velocities from 22CM and 6CM. These can obviously differ and will be faster with hand loads…

Let’s say both guns are setup identical with 18” barrels. Input 3100 for the .224 and 2850 for the .243 for the calcs. 10 MPH full value wind. 5,000 ft DA.

At 800 yards the 103 ELDX is 1,750ish FPS. 700ish ft lbs of energy. 5.6 MIL Up. 1.4 MIL Wind.

At 800 yards the 108 ELDM is 1,800ish FPS. 780ish ft lbs of energy. 5.4 MIL Up. 1.3 MIL Wind.

At 800 yards the 80 ELDX is 1,900ish FPS. 650ish ft lbs of energy. 4.6 MIL Up. 1.3 MIL Wind.

At 800 yards the 88 ELDM is 2,000ish FPS. 800ish ft lbs of energy. 4.4 MIL Up. 1.1 MIL Wind.

Free recoil energy in an 8 lb gun shooting 88 ELDM out of 22CM is around 9.5-10 ft lbs.

Free recoil energy in an 8 lb gun shooting 108 ELDM out of 6CM is around 11.5-12 ft lbs.

Higher impact speed, less wind drift, nearly a full MIL less elevation dial, and less recoil for the 22CM shooting 88 Ms. You really can’t beat that combo in my opinion.
