The 22 creedmoor thread

That's hot according to hornady.

I’m at 41 grains of H4350 with Alpha brass. CCI 200s. 2.66 COAL. 250 rounds and only one that pressured up due to unrealized moisture in the action.

Tikka action, 20” McGowen stainless barrel averaging 3275. A dozen or more have chronod over 3,300 but that’s just 80 ELDX behavior at those speeds.

I'm just bitter I loaded up 5 at 36.0 and got a smoking 2800 fps from a 20" PBB.

Good to know there's room for growth I guess.

Ouch. Seems slow. This was 37 with that same barrel I mentioned above. Post barrel break and and shot suppressed.

I’m surprised there isn’t anyone that has +p ed one of these. Is there a reason not to or is there something I’m missing?

It will help for sure, I’m shooting a 1/7 TR right now and most of my bullets are 305,000ish. I haven’t lost any yet, but several people on this thread have. I’m shooting mainly 85.5’s and 88’s.

Looks like I might have to try some 77. The 88s this is as good as I can get with 4831. Or I try 4350.

Well only young animals about. They expand violently in very small young goats at 2880 and 2650 and 2520fps impacts. These kids are about 4inchs thick and a very soft target so neck length probably in the realm of bergers. The 2520fps impact watched the wall behind sprayed with blood. All these shots were shooting up at atleast 20 degrees from the bottom of a canyon

Did take one at 1600fps impact but shot was back and no recovery so unsure of damage. Reaction not great. It appears to have pencilled from the very average spotter footage. (These are introduced pests and breed like crazy. Huge money spent controlling them yearly so they make very good terminal performance testers).

Below is the 2650fps impact exit. And one i caught by hand for an idea of size. Coyote sized ish.

Who has some load data on using 77tmk's and h4350 using Alpha brass? Do these bullets tend to like to be close or do they tend to like a jump? Life is slowing down again and I should be able to finally start some load dev.

20-30 off touch with tmk has done well in 3 barrels I've used them in. I'd start at 25k off and work up powder from 41.0gr, max will likely be around 42.5-43gr. Alpha brass has a very tough web area, and it doesn't form much on first firing. This can cause bolt thrust and light bolt lift on first firing. This is usually gone the second firing. Read the primers for psi signs first with alpha, it's very tough stuff.

Here’s my new 22CM and dedicated thermal gun. First 18 rounds out of the gun. The barrel seems to already gained speed in the first 40 rounds. I’m around 3950fps with 39.5 grains of Varget.

Shot a coyote in the back of the head last night and there was no skull cap left.
